Fantastic!! Does he have a website showing wheels offered? What is is contact info? Thanks in advance.
He had a Shapeways page, but I think they closed up. Now he just started a facebook page and says he does his files only for personal use. Try this: Facebook
Just got my first Alpha models kit, the Ferrari SP3. Have done many other styrene kits & a few 1/43 resin kits, but nothing like this one before. Any suggestions from the more experienced modelers here? Thanks.
First, I would try to get a close match to the color you choose. I like 2 part basecoat with a clearcoat. Zero Paints used to be good but are hard to find IN STOCK, so you have to wait. They carry most Ferrari colors.
Thank you! Yes Shapeways has closed their marketplace - restructuring the entire company. They claim that there will be another, but through an associated company.
Found this really nice set from USCP for the 250 GT wiring in 1/24th scale to go along with their superb printed wire wheels. Ferrari 250-series engine detail-up set - 24A105
Not models to build but interesting in 1/24 scale, as already announced by Tom : Image Unavailable, Please Login
Found this on ebay, a Lambardi Grand Prix in 1/24th scale. Almost identical to the Abarth 1300 Scorpion version. Lombardi Grand Prix 1/24 Scale Resin Kit - MiniRetro | eBay Image Unavailable, Please Login
I just got one of these in the mail, and interestingly, all eight of the five-spoke wheels included are different from one another. You have a "flat" spoke style and the "rounded" spoke style, and no two match! The diameters and profile depths are all different, and to make matters worse, some are WAY too small to fit into the tires. Just wanted to point that before people pull the trigger on one. The body and everything else is really nice; but the wheels clearly need re-design. I've already gotten in touch with the guy; waiting on a reply which I'll relay to the forum when I get it.
You get 3 different wheels, with 2 in one size and the other 2 in another size. The wheels are Momo, BBS and OZ Olive Garden style. I bought 2 kits so it worked out but that is a problem than should be easy to fix for him.
Next clue for the Hiro kit for February. So, something FIAT owned Italian, probably a rally car. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yeah I'm not worried about him fixing it; I've dealt with him a couple times and he's very professional. Just wanted to make everyone aware. I actually was planning to machine off the rim portion anyway and make my own rims on the lathe, but not everyone has the facility to do that (or the desire)...I'll keep the forum posted.
Have you seen any other decals for the 333SP in 1/24th and 1/12th scales? Pattos Place seems to be the best, and I have put 2K over them before, carefully. First coat has to be light.
I don't know of anyone doing any 333 decals (I wish I did!) and I've used Pattos stuff with moderate success; maybe the aftermarket decal world will expand along with 3D printing. There's some pretty good subjects out there anymore...
Has anyone had any luck contacting ScaleMotorsport lately? I got a message yesterday saying they were able to ship to Canada now, but ominously when I followed the instructions to try to get an update, the email came back with: Delivery to the following recipients failed permanently: * [email protected] Reason: Unroutable destination domain: scalemotorsport.com I understand there might be delays in restocking to catch up with orders, but it's been more than 60 days and I'd just like to have a clearer projection of when things might be shipped. Evidently there must have been a lot of 1/12 935 kit owners out there who jumped on the deal last fall.
Just received an email from them this morning; shipping to Canada is beginning, but there is also a mention of some photoetch pieces not in stock and they are awaiting shipment.
Nice buildup of the Profil 24 Cunningham le Monster in 1/24th scale. It was designed by Grumman which mainly did NAVY contracts, so the aerodynamics is backwards Image Unavailable, Please Login
At some point it struck me that le Monstre might have been a predecessor to the early Dome project styling: https://petrolicious.com/articles/this-stunning-70s-le-mans-racer-didnt-win-the-race-but-it-won-my-heart
Not that I care as much about what they do anymore, but Revell is doing another F1 car kit. I would assume it is in 1/24th scale, which is my scale for F1 cars, but unless PC IXO does the molds, I will stick with the Hachette models. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Italeri is going to release Lancia Fulvia HF in 1:24 with new moulds. Image Unavailable, Please Login
