I think it was a Red 275GTB, but not sure. Looked around the internet and couldn't find the info...

From the hilarious 1971 Walter Mattheu film "A New Leaf" where he ends up driving his girlfriend home in the car, but when they get there you can see the car is being towed by a tow truck.

    Was it a 275GTB?

    Thanks,

    Fred

    Carbon on the valves...

Hilarious opening scene where they have it in "intensive care"...

Even funnier is the part where he sits in the traffic jam with a helmet on his head.

Two or possibly three cars used in filming? Initially a 4cam steel(?)w velocity stacks in the shop(Rallye Motors, Roslyn, NY?); then a two cam with a grill guard and antenna(rain gutter not easy to see); shot with the tow truck, no grill guard and hard to see the hood. @AllTwelve care to chime in?

    Hi Folks!

I do not know the serial number of the car(s) used in the film. I do know that someone from Chinetti contacted my dad about using his car, 275 GTB/4 10245. He was about to say yes until someone strongly advised he should not. Turns out it was the right move. Apparently, someone took the movie car out for a joy ride during a production afterparty and had a fender bender!

Sorry to veer a little off topic.
I have several acquaintances who’ve made a mistake of lending/renting their vintage cars to commercial or movie filming.

One of the more memorable was when my best friend was approached by the producers wanting to “loan” one of vintage cars (not a Ferrari, but about 25 years ago was already much rarer than all 275 GTBs).
He asked my advice & I promptly told him not to do it, which he later thanked me for, more than once, after learning all the horrors another acquaintance endured after agreeing to lend his (very similar, but not same make/model) car for the production.

Something that was claimed to take few hours a day (while he’s at work*) for 1-2 weeks, turned into several months of nightmare ****storm and included the film crew somehow blowing up the cars engine during some out-of-town production sequence**, contracting help from some local shop which swapped the original engine to a similar but smaller displacement (& kept the original in exchange), etc and none of this was revealed to the car owner until he got his car back, went for a drive, after which opened the hood to see why the car/engine doesn’t seem to have same kick …

*It was his daily driver and he wasn’t smart enough to insist on them to provide a full-time rental for the entire filming timeline.

** This extended, out-of-town need for the car was never mentioned/revealed when he initially agreed on loaning the car, but at least by then I had talked with him about the necessity of a rental car for the filming duration…
