The problem with the V12s after 2019 is the EU environmental restrictions that have permanently killed the true F1 sound that was so much a part of why the Ferrari V12s were special. I have a 2019 812SF. It sounds as close to an F1 racecar than any other car I've heard. It screams. Ferrari can try to "pipe in" as much sound as they like, it will never sound like my 812SF. I think it's great that Ferrari has tried to keep the V12 NA tradition going, but the EU has made that not really possible.

What matters is that the engine is still there, and it should sound better than ever. It's only an exhaust issue, a relatively easy fix :)

It’s not an easy fix anymore with Ferrari’s built in nannies. They really do not want us to change anything on the car. And if you do, say goodbye to the warranty on your brand new car…and also say hello to a dash lit up like Xmas lights, limp mode, and the check engine light. It sounds insane to say, but a simple aftermarket exhaust nowadays can impact the reliability of a new Ferrari.

Which begs the question why impose such a crappy sound on regions that don't require it especially on what some say could be the swan song for the NA V12. I'd bet a GPF delete option that covered costs and made even more profit would have much more appropriate but perhaps not if it makes the rest of the lineup sound bad especially electrics coming up. Just such a same to have a +9k V12 and commuter sound. Bad as compared to F12/812 or even the much silenced version on the 812c.

I love our 812SF. Wish I had never sold our F12 (Ian Coburn’s TM example). Want to buy a Dodici Cilindri. [emoji4]

I had an F12 in Dubai, which tried to kill me once when I tried to take a highway exit a bit enthusiastically :)
Unrelated to that incident I traded it in for a GTC4 Lusso which made more sense for me at the time. I have now ordered a 12C and I am more excited about the 12C than I was for the F12 back then.

I have a friend who owns a few Ferraris at the moment, including an 812 and a recent addition Purosangue. I was with him at the dealership 3 weeks ago when he was customizing his 12C and he was excited and giddy as a 10 year old.

I wonder if we will. I wouldn’t mess with the exhaust on a 296 or sf90 because of the hybrid system and turbos but an na v12? I know there is the gpf issue but I swapped out some components on my f8 and had no issues including not having a cel. When I did the full swap I did have to use an odb code delete but it was all bolt on, relatively easy swap in and swap out. I will reserve judgement until I hear it live but I am sure there will be some very good options and it will be interesting to see how the service departments/dealers care. At least here in the states.

Of course, any change on a Ferrari seems to drive people nuts at resale…

I voted F12 because I own one and am bias but I really have a hard time judging a car without actually driving it. The looks, price and sound seem like downers but maybe its a dream to drive. who knows. out of my price range for the foreseeable future so moot point.

Agree That’s why I would only do if was easy on and off and no tuning. Love the sound of the 296 so good to go but if the 12 is meh in the sound department I will definitely investigate
