I was wondering, the same thing, wasn’t sure if he’s talking about the Pirelli‘s or the Michelin‘s. I run the Michelin PS2’s on all my other cars and they’re phenomenal.

These were placed new on the car when I bought it, and they have been performing well so I'm not inclined to change.

by all metrics, Conti is superior to Pirelli.

Is that a general statement, or are you referring to these specific "old compound" Pirellis? Because it is a general statement, nothing is farthest from the truth...

i’m referring to F40 size all season performance tires. No one in the Viper community is using Pirelli, only Conti’s.
    only Michelin is better.

These are technically summer tyres. All major supercar brands use Pirellis, Michelins, Bridgestones and Goodyears. Continentals usually overheat too quickly.

after further discussion and thought, i ended up ordering the pzero collezione tires from tire rack.
the new formula is going to be 30% more expensive and unavailable for some time.
the mismatched michelins were ultimately not considered safe enough.

the pzeros fronts are dated 50/23 and the rears are at least 45/24. not the worst, not the best. but they wont be making any more of this compound in this size anyway.

We have some of these on our F40 for 3 or 4 years now. It drives very well and you still get some passengers to be quiet for some time after the ride. If you know, what I mean.

A fresh set of tires and a perfect suspension gives you a lot of trust in that car. Luckily, the F50 tires are also produced. Not as perfect as the originals, but very very very good.

well its done now, so the choice has been made.
the good thing i guess is that the car is currently here with me in houston, which has exceptionally warm weather about 9 months per year - altho that does not make the experience inside the cabin very pleasant since the ac sort of works for about the first 30 minutes and then cannot keep up.....

30 year old tyres are no match for current technology.
