Anyone know of a dry ice blasting place in the South Bay? Preferably a place I can bring some loose parts (valve covers, manifolds, etc.) in for cleaning, but also a place that can dry-ice clean engine bay and undersides.

Preferably closer to the LG/Campbell area.

    TIA!

Thanks Red Fred. Looks like he runs it from his home? This is a good resource assuming he'll do small jobs.

He is mobile, but was in the process of setting up a brick & mortar shop a few months ago. He was also trying to set up an enclosed trailer with lift inside to be a mobile service. I had him do a small motorcycle engine for me at my home, but it had to be timed right with him doing another job nearby, and having left over dry ice. The dry ice is the issue; it isn't worth just getting a small amount, and it doesn't last long.
Probably best to round up everything you would ever imagine getting blasted, and also getting all your local friends and thier stuff as well. The blasting does well with dried on dirt, but does nothing for greasy goo.

Thanks for the additional info. Great suggestions. I wanted to blast the top side of my 944T and the 308 engine bays from built up grime, etc. They are pretty clean overall, but pulling each part off and degreasing them in a bath or bead-blasting them is a PITA I was hoping to avoid. No heavy oils or grease on the parts, but I wanted to make them a little brighter. But I also wanted to blast the transaxle on the 944T to see where leak is coming from. That one pretty gooey and built-up. So maybe not a good solution there. I'll call him when I get the 308 back in a week or so, so I can do both at the same time and make it worth the trip.

I haven’t done a steam cleaning on my diesel truck in maybe 4 years. Have we environmentally made those outfits go away or can you guys find one for the “grease and oil” if the dry ice isn’t well matched to that facet?

I last used a guy in Santa Cruz since I’m South Bay.

There was a place in San Jose I took my 911 to a number of years ago, but he was railing about the San Jose city raiding his place on a weekly basis searching for pollutants. Not to get into P&R, otherwise I'll get my post removed, but that's why I was asking about the dry-ice cleaning. Steam cleaning, if you can find it, is going to be expensive. I don't remember what I paid for my 911 pre-Covid, but it was probably around a few hundred. And my car was pretty clean to start with. He seemed like he was ready to turn away cars that were too dirty due to the harassment he was getting from the city.

That said, if anyone knows a steam-cleaning place in the South Bay, that would be good to know, too.

There's a steam cleaning place next to the Sharks stadium & whole foods near DT SJ. I've got no experience with them, but could be worth a call. Image Unavailable, Please Login

I think that's the place I used years ago. Guess he's still in business. It was expensive then, and the owner had plenty to say about the city.
