Il try keep this thread updated with my portofino ownership experience,
2 months in and 200 miles driven
Car was purchased with just 10k miles on the clock its a 2019 model,
I looked for years at the Portofino but went with a McLaren 600LT spider which I owned for 2.5 years , and under pressure from the wife I started looking at the portofinos again and when this one came up with a massive spec ,ive never seen one like it lots of etalier options lots of carbon painted shields and a lovley metallic rosso corsa the options alone were pushing £100k it even as a full ppf
The car is in unmarked condition and I mean totally immaculate it even still smells new
I just had to have it and I love it the Mrs loves it . So all good . I’d much prefer it to the McLaren much nicer to drive and way more comfortable
And it gets just as much attention as the McLaren did I’ve still got 2 more free servicing and 4 months factory warranty then another 2 years power warranty added on when that expires
    So less stress there hopefully
Love the interior in rosso ,jbl sound system is really good , and so far no issues all is well and I will update this story every so often I’m hoping this one is a keeper
I keep the charger in a waterproof box and always plug in the charger when I park up Image Unavailable, Please Login

oooh i'm really happy you started this thread. I've recently been looking at Portofino's as a backup option when i'm finally ready to buy and would love to see what the ownership experience is like.

After 3 years and 9,000 miles added by me the only issue I’ve had was the passenger display crapped out. I also had a coolant ac leak I just remembered. Both fixed under warranty. I use my Porto as a daily driver.

I know this will differ largely based on location, but what has insurance costs looked like for you? I'm deciding between the 458 and the Porto, and while i understand they are two completely different cars, the 458 would require me to buy another car to daily drive. If i were to get the Portofino, i'd be daily driving it as well.

Have you owned other Ferraris? If you have what would you say is the biggest difference in how they drive compared to the Porto?

Our McLaren 600LT was £660 a year the portofino was a refund of £140 with 7 months remaining so it’s cheaper
I try use my van as a daily to some extent to keep the mileage down

I hate how expensive the US is. I was quoted 3000$ for the year for the 458 by my insurance company.

Yes , I have owned most of the mid engine Ferraris 430-458-488-F8 all spiders. I did pass on the 296GTS .
I still have my F8 spider along with the Porto. The Porto is a fantastic car but you can’t begin to compare it to the mid engine cars. I suggest you drive both and decide. I added the Porto about 3 years ago and traded my SL MBZ . I wanted something comfy / roomy but exotic and settled on the Porto over Porsche and others. Insurance is about 3k per car per year here. Hope this helps.
Ps. If I could only have one it would be the 458 spider not coupe.

Ive driven a few mid-engine Ferrari's (except the 458 which is the one i want), but havnt driven any front engine Ferrari's yet with the exception of the Purosangue. My heart really really wants the 458. However the reason i'm considering the Portofino is because i can see prices for the 458 climb, and i'm just not in a position to buy just yet. If the car prices get too high by the time i am ready, then i'm willing to settle for a "less desirable" Ferrari. I'm not in a dire need to need the mid-engine experience, i had a 718 GT4 and now have a BGTS so i live with the mind-engine experience every day which is great. But the goal for sure is the 458.

Thanks for the insurance quote, it's basically what ive been getting quoted. Might try Hagerty and see if they have a better price since the 458 would not be a daily drive for me and might only see about 3k miles a year or so.

Thought I’d keep this thread as an update on the Portofino journey.
Not many miles driven but all is well got myself some genuine Ferrari 20inch wheels they were brand new didn’t like them in silver so got them sprayed gloss black and I love them what do you guys think ??
Il attach a before and after picture. The dimond turned ones were lovley but just fancied a change lol il keep the dimond cut as a spare only a 30 min job to swap them over , went with ps4 tyres
The only other think I added is the dust caps £5 from eBay and even made out of metal and great quality but all ties in with the callipers and the centre caps
While the wheels were of I ceramic coated the callipers and gave everything behind a good clean then sprayed some lanoguard around and greased up any nut heads
I did have squeaky seats but in the end it was coming from the seat belt lock rubbing on the seat a nice red wrist band sorted that out , weather getting better here now , so should be getting out on it more

For some reason Ferrari's always make me choose color combos i never would think to do on other cars. I prefer the diamond cut but i think it's because of the contrast of the red paint and the yellow calipers. Gloss black is too dark for me, but i still think it looks good. If it were me i'd have the wheels painted satin bronze, but i think you cant go wrong with either color you have.

yeah I also thought bronze . If it had brown seats then definitely.
But the yellow callipers wouldn’t have popped like they do with black .
These wheels will be so much easier to clean Image Unavailable, Please Login

So now I’m at 4 months in and 650 miles driven
I’m loving the car so far I do however have a big issue that almost every McLaren suffers from and according to the forum so do Ferraris and that is aluminium corrosion . It is covered in my factory extended warranty and my local dealer was ok on getting it done but l have a full ppf on the car and they wouldn’t cover that , I never thought to look for corrosion but as soon as it popped the bonnet it was there how the supply dealer missed this is beyond me it’s all over the inside of the bonnet along the seems so everyone please check there’s and report back as soon as I noticed it I had a good look around and also have it on both rear arches on the lip and on the lip of the front wings ( what a nightmare) I’m sure it’s the uk climate, but it will get done as it will spread and normally if done right it will never return but could be without the car most of the summer as it needs to be 3/4 weeks before ppf reapplied
I also have a creaking roof ( I think that needs some grease on the rubbers )
And the other day the boot kept popping open every time I opened the roof . Then just like that it’s good again just did it on one day ( annoying and not sure what was up )
So apart from that I still love it and have some novitec bits on order
I can’t believe how quick it is for a gt car it’s such a thrill to drive slow or fast
Il keep this thread updated with the outcome and any other news good or bad
Im slightly worried about the paints shields if the wings need to be fully painted and if its all going to

here’s the bonnet if you enlarge you can clearly see it’s all around the join lips the other bits can’t really see in pictures but they are bubbles and certainly feel them with fingers
I’m guessing if you guys feel you’ve probably got some somewhere it’s always around the edges Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

That looks awful, I'll have to have a good look under the bonnet(hood) of mine this weekend. I'm a bit apprehensive as it's kept garaged less than a mile from the ocean....

I don’t think mine was ever driven in the rain by previous owner it’s spotless underneath and around the arches looks like it was kept in a bubble , I’ve not driven in bad weather either and it’s always either inside or covered . Apparently it’s done at the factory there water in the primer that as a reaction and so the bubbles start . Don’t think it matters where you live or what you do its been done from factory and if it’s in there it’s going to happen just feel around the arches you will feel the blisters around there , there’s no way it’s just mine as they’re done on a production line . I’ve searched on here and there’s loads of 458 488 with it even a 6 month old portofino,
But once it’s rubbed down properly and redone it won’t come back as it’s not rot it’s just a paint reaction with the primer

So it’s been a while and finally all done 6 weeks roughly ,
Paint is stunning can’t tell it’s perfect all bubbles gone as good as new
    Paint protection film re applied
They also fixed the creaking roof
It didn’t need the top side of bonnet doing just the underside
While it was in had the rear quarter windows tinted (this looks really good )

Just need now to ceramic coat it again now .
And definitely going apply some Lanoguard to the arch inner lips ,
Hopefully it will never come back fingers crossed
