77 308 brake question: this seems easy but thought I should ask if there are any hidden no-no’s to watch out for in this particular situation. See picture: The part is leaking brake fluid but I can’t tell where from. It’s definitely from that part. Has anyone had this part go bad, seals, loose nuts, etc? Do you repair or buy new one? If I swap out with a new one is it just a bleed from each brake or bleed entire system? Does the part even exist anymore in the aftermarket? All thoughts and questions welcomed! Thanks everyone in advance.

Thanks @Dockboy I couldn’t find anything in my search, so thanks! Quick question, in regard to your comment: You have to "massage" all the lines with a line bender to get them to line up. What is a line bender? Also, it looks like getting my current unit rebuilt could be an issue, seems like new OEM is pricey but the rebuild isn’t for the faint of heart.

@Dockboy thanks again for the help. Additional questions since I have ordered the Volvo part.
    1. Seems you need to plug one of the “holes” on Volvo part, did the part come with those or did you need to get those as well? Maybe I missed a comment on that.
    2. When undoing the old lines did you just plug them with ??? while you replaced and fitted the new Volvo part? Or did you drain the entire MC and start fresh? Sounds like a dumb question but I have done brakes before but not on my 308.
    3. Any last minute advice and when was your 77 308 built? Thanks!

    Tim,

    No problem!

    1. Yes you need to plug one port on the rear circuit side. I can't remember if it came with a plug or not but I have a whole drawer of hydraulic fittings. If you don't have one, just head to your local NAPA auto parts store. They also have lengths of pre flanged brake line if you need any.
    2. I just let it drain then refill and bleed thoroughly when the system is back together.
    3. You will need a 1/2" spacer to mount the new valve to the bulkhead. Thoroughly check all the flanges on the brake lines. If they have been deformed or scared from overtightening in the past, they will still leak.

My car is #21561 built May '77
