    hello
as i try to sort out the wiring of my 82 GTSi (dealing with the aftermath of amateur radio, radar detector, and alarm installations decades ago), I have 2 wiring questions

Does anyone have a picture of the wiring at the back of the ignition switch? The light blue wire pulled off when I was repairing its splice from the alarm system. There are several available terminals on the back of the switch. i think i can guess which terminal it goes to (the other 3 wires are next to each other, so maybe just the next one over), but i thought maybe someone might have a pic or something? The wiring diagram labels the terminals with a number, but i can not see any numbers on the back of the switch

also, up under the dash, next to the black turn signal relay box, there is a metal box with 2 wires on it - one has pulled off, and I think it is a red and white wire, but i am not sure. Does anyone know what this metal colored box is next to the turn signal relay? i am not quite sure what it is, so hard to look it up in the wiring schematic

    thanks for any help

That's probably the warning buzzer for the seatbelts. I'm sure if you looked under there you would find the other wire that attaches to the other terminal.. unless someone cut it.

according to my wiring schematic, the seat belt buzzer device has 3 connectors coming off it, and this metal box only has 2. there is a red-wire wire next to it, that is disconnected, which makes me think that is the wire that connects to it, but i was still wondering what the device actually is

The red wire is +12V directly from the battery

The black wire should be +12V when the ignition key is in the "on" position (this line goes to the top of fuses #4 and #5 to run the heater blower and the AC circuits)

The azure (light blue) wire should be +12V when the ignition key is in the "on" position (this line goes to the top of fuse #2 and runs the ignition system)

The white wires (two in a common terminal) should go +12V when the ignition key is held in the "start" position (this is the start command line to the starter solenoid)

If you have an azure/white wire I believe this should go +12V only when the ignition key is in the "off" position -- so if you've got this wire you might not be able to use an "aftermarket" replacement switch (i.e., I think it's something special. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a 1976 308GTB US version OM at the Owners Site so I don't know if the pre-cat 2-valves had this or not -- if you do, give a shout back).

If you have two separate red/white wires, these are for the separate switch that detects the ignition key presence when in the "off" position after running (and sounds the warning buzzer) -- an aftermarket switch might not have this either.

There's no "accessory" position on your stock F ignition switch (so no wires go there).

HTH (but get registered on the Owners Site so you can get to the FerrariUK spare parts site).
