I'm sure many of you remember Luke Cowart who went by the user name @355dreamer. He owned a beautiful white F355 GTS. About 7 years ago he under went surgery for a brain tumor and was off Chat for a while. But he came back strong as ever. Unfortunately I got a call from my old friend DaveRocks today that Luke passed away last October 23, leaving behind his wife and children. I was unaware of this and posting to let others know that we lost one of the good guys. His last post was on May 7 of last year. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/f355-market.487947/page-556#post-149640276

    May he rest in peace.

Very unfortunate. Luke was definitely one of the long time 355 gurus. I knew about the brain tumor surgery. He hasn’t had a 355 in awhile (understandably), but always came back to participate here. True 355 fan. One of the 355 boys no doubt.

Luke was a real mensch of the Ferrari community. He lived just a few minutes from me in Maryland and was a regular at the local car meets, often with his sons. He was one of the first Ferrari owners that I met and offered for me to come and sit in his car so I could see how I fit. Chatting with him gave me the confidence to buy my 360 Spider. RIP, Luke.

Very sad news. def makes you check and reset priorities. I hadn’t seen him post in a while. Last time we talked he was buying a house on a lake to chill out a bit more in a peaceful place.

I’ll share a really eyebrow raising moment that he and I shared.

He and I were going back and forth on his interest in I think his fourth F355 - a yellow ‘95 berlinetta. The fifth and final I believe was a red one…. He finally pulled the trigger and did a little bit of work on it. I was in town to the Washington area for some business. I brought my cameras and we went out with a couple others on Ferrarichat after a cars and coffee type day. We swapped cars and shooting positions for several hours and got some very nice rolling shots going up and down the GW parkway, and other scenic roads.

We decided to exit and swap up cars again and head for some food - only this time, we exited at a certain governmental agency highway exit with a guarded gate that you would not normally ever want to accidentally exit at…

Luke stopped the F355 in front and I bailed out a dif car with a camera bag to swap into his yellow berlinetta. As soon as I did that, about 30 special agents descended on us with automatic weapons and shotguns drawn, loaded and ready to go pointing at all of us. Off road vehicles with dogs, and lots of sirens and lights and loud commands on bullhorns…. Needless to say, we both said… oh ****. Hands were up for the whole time. We were held there for about 20 minutes for the agency to run our id’s and finally say we could go.

The head of the group said, we picked the wrong day to catch that exit (like bad bin Laden ops kinda day) and the swapping out of vehicles wasn’t deemed a normal maneuver at that type of location. Luke was super concerned this would mess up a family members clearance at another agency or put him on a no fly list…. Needless to say we skipped food and drinks after that but the photos did turn out great to put the event in the history books so to speak.

Lot of hilarious oh **** moments traded on texts the next couple of weeks for all that were there.

Luke was a super nice guy and def a friend. I wish his family peace and will think of him any time I see a white Ferrari.

Man that is terrible news. I remember him well. He had a Rosso Barchetta one that was so sweet, not to mention the ultra-rare Bianco Avus one, among others.
Anytime I see a white 355 I always thought of him and forever will. RIP.

This hurts a lot. Luke and I were great friends since we first met nearly 2 decades ago. When I joined FCA-MAR back in 2007 I was only 25 years old and Luke was the next youngest person at 30 so I was immediately drawn to him as a peer. I believe one of our first interactions in 2007 was a highway pull - his F355 vs my supercharged Elise. His rossa barachetta 355 was so beautiful and partially inspired me purchase a 355 only months later. We hung out many times over the years, shared interest in Ferraris, Range Rovers and boating, and Luke was always the most relatable Ferrari brother to me. I pray for peace and comfort for his family and all friends. What a wonderful man and a major loss for the Ferrari community :(

Sharing stories... this was from Finali Mondial in 2016 at Daytona. Everyone who attended lined up for an attempt at the world record parade lap (we were short by less than 100 cars or so). As we slowly filed back to the exit to the track, I see a yellow blur screaming up on my right side, basically on the vertical part of the bank. It was Luke and he passed a bunch of us who were just sitting going 5-10 mph. I'll never forget hearing him before I saw him. I actually never had the chance to meet him in person, sadly.

    Yes we did.
Luke and I with the wives went on many double dates together, such a kind heart and family man!
He was always genuine. He was a peacemaker, he was always trying to keep everyone in the MAR peaceful and fix the misunderstandings.
    Damn shame, R.I.P. brother.
