Has anyone had the Ferrari fire extinguisher fitted to their F8? How much does it obstruct the passenger footwell, or is there a better non-OEM alternative?
Doing a few road tours and track days in mind and would like the reassurance of an extinguisher.

I purchased a relatively inexpensive one from eBay and have fitted it to the rear bulkhead between the seats. When I came to install it I really didn't want to go drilling holes in my car but was extremely fortunate in that the holes in the extinguisher mounting bracket lined up exactly with the holes for the divider for the cargo net.

And that fits even with the seats slid right back? Would love a photo if you have one.

I assume the F8 is similar to the 488; the Ferrari extinguisher is mounted close to the wheelarch (and is probably expensive) so I opted for an FIA approved extinguisher mounted near the central tunnel (using existing screw holes) - it prevents the seat to move completely forward though.

Dry chemical (powder) is corrosive and a HUGE mess to clean up. I've used many in my career and/or teaching folks how to use one. You might investigate one of the Element fire extinguishers instead. Or find one of the Halon-replacement gaseous extinguishers (as above) that are considerably more expensive

Yes the seats are clear of it.
I'll take a photo tomorrow and post it up.

I passed on that option, and who thinks that's a good spot for it? Your passenger better be a pirate.

My wife has never complained about the FE being in her way. Trust me, if it was an issue, she would have told me. :)

When the car was ordered we went over that option and my wife said "I'm not climbing over that and then have no room for my legs" I replied I'll put one somewhere else.

I use a SafeCraft PB2 which is Halon 1211. It has twice the efficiency of a Halotron 1 extinquisher. Safecraft is top notch as they make units for Aviation, Marine and Motorsports. It's expensive but worth it. Here they are in my Huracans. I've yet to put one in my 488 but will. Not a big fan of the way Ferrari does the extinguisher. It looks like it was loose and rolled into a corner.

By the way, having gone down various fire extinguisher rabbit holes, I've decided to just get a fire stick for the glovebox.
If that doesn't work, then that's what insurance is for.
