Another mid-pack year for FA. How much more does he want to endure........ --Fernando Alonso has dismissed any hopes of Aston Martin securing race victories in the 2025 Formula 1 season, citing the team’s lack of significant development progress. Since joining Aston Martin two years ago, Alonso has experienced mixed fortunes with the Silverstone-based outfit--
They need him to get things moving. Rely on Lance lol?? Test drivers are not very experienced either.
There are the rumors floating around that Lawrence S has approached Max with an outrageous (on the order of $1B) package to bring him to Aston. One version of the rumor has Fernando headed to Red Bull in response. The key word in all this, of course, is rumor.
Weak spot remains. https://www.crash.net/f1/news/1063048/1/aston-martin-told-address-lance-stroll-question-mark-amid-1bn-deal-rumour#
Officially first day of work. I suspect he's had a copy of the blue prints on the 2025 car for some time and hopefully he can come up with some ideas for their first major update that likely will come by the Spanish GP. Then full effort on the 2026 car.
That's when the FIA will put more restrictions on the front wing flex from 15mm to 10mm at the SpanishGP.
Adrian Newey's focus at Aston Martin will be 2026 car - Andy Cowell "Adrian joining brings a huge amount of experience and a great competitive mindset, and the choice we have made at the moment is that Adrian is working on the 2026 car," Cowell said. "He's putting a lot of effort into that and understanding that. "He's been in the engineering office, looking at the 2026 regulations and working out the compromises needed to create a fast race car under the new rules. While the majority of his time will be spent on the 2026 car, Newey will still have some freedom to work on the 2025 car once the season is up and running. "Maybe when we've learned where our car is, it's strengths and weaknesses, in the opening races, he'll come up with the odd development tweak for the 2025 car," Cowell added.
I really hope Newey can come up with something to bring that package together. It seems more and more likely that Alonso is in his final 2 seasons of F1 and I would love to see him battling with the leaders instead of mucking about in the 7th best car.
An uninspired lack of product is sinking this mess. If Aston road car company folded tomorrow who would miss it? Circling the drain is what this sounds like. Porsche and other makers sales in China are at low records. Aston needs a miracle. Aston Martin to sell F1 team stake as Stroll invests more money Fresh investment into Aston Martin in order to boost the car business finances Aston Martin is set to sell a stake in the Aston Martin Formula 1 team in order to commit an extra £52.5million into the car business. The company cut 170 jobs last month after fewer cars were sold in 2023. This was put down to production delays and it eventually led to debts of over £1billion. Stroll’s investment has been done through his Yew Tree Consortium, which bought a stake in Aston Martin five years ago, and that share will now rise to 33%. "I am pleased to clearly demonstrate my unwavering support and commitment to Aston Martin,” he said. “Since 2020, my Yew Tree Consortium partners and I have invested around £600m into the company. “This proposed investment further underscores my conviction in this extraordinary brand, and commitment to ensuring Aston Martin has the strongest possible platform for creating long-term value while reducing equity dilution via this premium subscription, which should greatly reassure shareholders, as I again increase my long-term ownership in the company.” As well as Stroll investing more money into the business, Aston Martin will sell a minority stake in its Formula 1 team, worth approximately £74m. --These are number from November 2024: Aston Martin has spent over half a billion dollars this year, or around $1.8 million per day. The company has posted a pre-tax loss of $295 million following supply disruptions and weakening China demand. Production forecasts were cut by roughly 1,000 vehicles at the end of September.--
If Aston road car company folded tomorrow who would miss it? I would; not the F1 team, but the road car company. I never owned one, but I have been passenger in several Astons, and they seem to be outstanding cars. They are the equivalent of an "English Ferrari", in my opinion. So yes, I would miss them: it's the best English sportscar company. Aston went through an hectic history (no less than 9 different owners!), several bankruptcies, etc .. but always survived.
I don't understand their road car company. For pretty much this entire millenium they've been creating 3/4 models, all of them practically identical to each other. Their SUV might be the thing that saves them, but I fear it arrived several years too late. Now they're about to release the Valhalla, an unbelievable pretty car, great engine, "well priced" (in line with SF90), wildly different from anything they created...ever. And they'll decide to make only 1000 of them. It's like they're begging to go bankrupt.
