thanks for the info Dyke. so the 275 must be very tossable whereas the Daytona must be lumbering in comparison.

Ed: I think your statement is a very good way to describe the cars. 275's are light and maneuverable, while Daytona's are designed to cross continents.

Thank you for your replies, Dyke including the ones in the 365 BB changes thread. So no mention of 365 GTB/4 "C" or "Competizione" on the build sheets for 12547 that you have?

Steve: That is correct, but remember I have the Chassis Sheet "only" for 12547.

The chassis sheet is the one it would normally say C or Competizione on, as well as the front sheet.

@DWR46 Have you seen any of the build sheets for the 15 official Competizione Daytonas and if so do they say C or Competizione anywhere?

Build sheets don't show a "C" but say "allegerita" (light weight) and/or "Carrozzeria Speciale in alluminio e plastico e plexiglas".

The original factory invoice for 16425 states 365 GTB/4 Berlinetta Competizione.

For 14889 the cover of the build sheet states "Berlinetta Competizione" but those 2 words are written with a different typewriter (different fonts) than the rest and I therefore believe that it has been added later.

Thanks you. Is this in reference to the 15 official Comp. Daytona build sheets?

Yes, thank you. Just asked to be clear and for Swiss Precision.

Of course only the first 5 official Competizione 365 GTB4s were in "alluminio". Sorry to be a nuisance but are any of the last 10 steel bodied cars referred to as "allegerita" for lightweight steel?

Not talking about Daytonas now, but there are a few people that like to refer to alloy bodied cars as Competizione when they are no such thing, including a dealer incorrectly referring to and over describing an alloy bodied 250 GT LWB California Spyder as Competizione.

What would I search from that photo since I didn't know the model or sn? Fchat search doesn't do photo search.

Is s/n 00106 still silvergrey? I took this picture in 1992.

00106 was born yellow in October 1966, repainted silvergrey in May 1974, then repainted back to yellow again 1993.

Things get entertaining, when the Foglio di Montaggio is marked "Competizione Normale" at the engine page.

We once hat two cars from the same model side by side. One very early one and a later car. Later Car has "Competizione Normale" engine, the early one "Motore Competizione con assi a cammes normali". Maybe it described the same idea, but the owner of the first car insisted, he had a racing engine... Strangely, his car wasn´t any faster in acceleration than the later car with longer rear axle (and no racing engine).

It is completely wrong to simply follow letters written on a build sheet. That is simply not enough to analyze properly.
There were even some owners who specifically requested to have build sheets "upgraded" by adding some words such as "Speciale" or "Competizione" or "Allegerita" or "Tipo S" or anything similar.
Remember, back in the 50s to early 80s there was not that much or no promotion material and oftentimes a build sheet was the one and only paperwork available from the factory. So, let's say if you had a 750 Monza and lived at the other end of the planet, say NZ, far away from Maranello, you only had a few build sheet papers and nothing else.
    Interpretation is endless.

Christian Huet's book Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Group 4 Daytona Competizione states that at Le Mans 1969 12547 had plexiglass side and rear windows, the black cockpit has been stripped to its bare essentials, the original seats have been replaced with 2 bucket seats, has the 7 1/2" wheels, brake discs and exhaust from the production model, the engine is standard but carefully assembled. Weight is 1495 KG with an empty fuel tank.

It's also stated that the Filipinetti 275 GTB/4 (it was a 275 GTB/C) 09079 was lapping 10 seconds slower. Grossman then in qualifying hit the safety barrier to avoid hitting the spinning 206 causing the damage previously described.

The Huet book also refers to 12547 as "Daytona Competizione Client" Preparation Sport Auto Modena on 21.5.69 for N.A.R.T Mattews Otto Racing.

Also refers to 13367 (1974) and 13855 (1972) as "Daytona Competizione Client" Preparation Sport Auto Modena.

    Preparation TRACO -
    13771, 14065, 14141 and 15965.
    Preparation Garage Francorchamps - 16717.
    Preparation Cornet-Epinat - 14849.

RM was in Monterey 14 August 2010, not Pebble Beach.
Pebble Beach is the place where Gooding sold 1489 GT on 17 August 2008.

Does anyone know the chassis number of the Porsche 904 next to the ¨LM¨?
