do you know if they are any others countries identified ( other than US & Canada ) where 3x8 were sent new ?

I look after those information about 328 and only examples I found are 328 purchased by American guys who lived outside US and bought car with US specs to be able to import them into the US when they return back home

My story: Back in 2003 when I bought my 1980 GTSi (33589, red/black, which as an aside was not shown in Brian's list in this thread), I sent an e-mail to Ferrari North America in NJ. Trying to learn more about the marque and the history of my then-new-to-me car and wondering about its rarity (or the lack there of), I asked them how many 1980 GTSi models like mine were imported here and sold thru licensed dealers in the States back in that day.

There answer to me (a hard copy of which I have kept in my files) was ..... 29!

So, thinking then that I had just purchased for myself a pretty rare bird, from that date forward I informally started to collect serial numbers of 1980 cars (i.e., those whose serial number year character was an "A") whenever I randomly ran across them. I finally gave up this exercise after I had reached several hundred serial numbers, thus proving to myself that the F.N.A. claimed 29 total number was without validity.

Any importer can order any version they want from the factory. I have seen US models come from all over the world imported by private parties. They could bring in a US car without needing to be modified and also avoiding the FNA markup. Many from Middle East. even one from Finland.

That is just one of the reasons I said there are US models not on the list.

As a dealer in the US we bought BBs 400's, 412's GTOs direct from the factory.

 

No it is absolutely not possible. FNA would not touch anything they didn't sell.
You are running into the very thing we all do, inaccurate records or inaccurate reporting or data entry somewhere.
Its why numbers never agree. I consider every entry in my records subject to correction.
You can always tell a German car, the air scoops have screens in them. German (TUV) safety law. They almost always have a rear fog light too.

i believe it was originally red with tan interior, currently black with wit tan interior.

I agree, however when I pulled the wheel well liners out I saw some red paint around the fastener holes. Always wondered.

When I repaired the corrosion by the front wheel wells I didn’t see any evidence of any other color than black.

Red oxide primer perhaps? My car's chassis has evidence of red oxide under the factory DBP coating.

 

Might be correct, in any event glad to find out the original color was black with tan interior.

 

FYI: My USA GTSi Rosso Corsa/Nero April 1980 not listed.

 

ZFFAA02AXA0031735 I bought it out of Indianapolis, IN 3 years ago, 2nd owner. First owner was from New York, NY where I assume it was imported to, but I don't know for sure. Currently in Southern California. Thanks.
