Afternoon, For a while the brake pedal has "shuddered" at the end of the travel if braking gently and today the ABS light came on. A quick scan of the internet appears to suggest that Alfa 156 ones are the same. Has anybody changed theirs and or could offer an alternative to main dealer ? thanks
I think he is talking about the wheel sensors, not the ABS unit. First thing to do would be to change the fluid and bleed the system (master cylinder included), including the ABS. You may need some pro help for bleeding the ABS.
Morning, Correct I am talking about the sensors. Fluid was changed a couple of years ago but doesn't hurt to do it again. Will try that first along with cleaning the sensors. Thanks
Check carefully to see if there is any build-up on the interface between the sensor and the wheel hub. If that space is too great, a minimal amount will cause trouble. as the wheel slows and the speed signal weakens it can cause your issue. Disclaimer- I have decades of European import car experience, almost no 550 experience.
