New owner here. Took ownership of a 2005 360 spider f1 recently and have quickly been doing minor diy repairs. One that has me stumped is while driving on the highway after a few minutes - random - and while cruising on 6th gear the car will just loose acceleration and just rev up as if it was in neutral! This is while cruising at speed in the highway which is a bit nerve wrecking. I have had to toggle down to 5th and sometimes 4th to recover acceleration. It does it frequently.

I’m wondering if any other 360 owners have run into this and what was the cause / fix?

Car has 15k miles - records show 9 owners lol

any and all help welcomed and appreciated.

I’m not an expert here but if it were a manual, I’d say that sounds like a slipping clutch. 9 owners is a lot for those miles. I’m sure they all had their fun and passed it down before having to do major work. Could be they smoked the clutch for you.

Fortunately it's a pretty simple system, but definitely have a chat with @flash32 to properly diagnose. It's easy to toss money at the costly parts when all you needed was an inexpensive accumulator for example. You're at the right place for help!

Scott .. don;t know how I missed that .. thanks

OP - let me know if you have any diagnosis tools / scanners .. if not it may help to buy something like ( just a reader) this if you do not plan on working on car yourself

Once you get that I will be more than happy to go over the F1 system with you and see what we can determine

I have not checked but the clutch is new - was one repair that was arranged before purchase. I have the old clutch that came off the vehicle.

I would work with flash to sort this out. I think all of us have read about poor PIS settings on new clutches. Could be a number of things at this point.

I can't speak to the F1, but my manual 360 had a similar issue in 3rd gear. I shut the car off, restarted and it has (knock on wood) not occurred again since. My mechanic chalked it up to an ECU glitch. Just food for thought.

Clutch settings are dialed in using the launch coding tablet. Clutch engages well. Gears all work great except for 6th while on the highway - randomly would slip and flash “6” and idle as if in neutral - I am forced to downshift all the way to 4th and work my way back up.

    any other suggestions?

I’m also looking for a Ferrari tech in the miami area…

When my 430 did the same thing, flash and were able to figure out it was the potentiometer fwiw.
