What's the difference between the MICHELIN PILOT SPORT 4S K1 296 and the standard MICHELIN PILOT SPORT 4S ? Is it mandatory to mount the specific 296 for the 296 ?
Fit the K1....this video details the changes bmw made to their michelin ps4s tire... Assume the ferrari changes are equally significant. Bill
In addition, it seems the load index of the standard rear PS4S (305/25 R 20) is 104 whereas the K1 has a load index of 107 (so the K1 is rated for a higher load). The front PS4S and PS4S K1 have the same 95 load rating.
Thanks for the clarification. Does a PS4S K1 296 exist only (specific) for the 296 ? I am asking because my dealer wants 5200 EUR for 4 tires and the tire-shop (top quality professional) 100 metres from the dealer away is at 1800 EUR ...
I buy all my Michelin K1, K2 tires online and have my tire shop install them, 1800 is about right ( I am in France). Bill PS….they are available online from multiple sources
i'm telling you the K on the 296 is phenomenal. almost like a cup 2 non R. would have loved to put them on my r8 to compare.
How is everyone sourcing these tires? My local shop told me his distributor only has DOT 23, he made a call to Tirerack, and they also only have DOT 23. Did they stop making these? I don't want to pay for a brand new set of tires and be stuck replacing them in 3 years vs 5-6 years.
I should add, I stumbled upon this post but I have an FF so my size availability may defer at 245/35/20 & 295/35/20 but wanted to see what everyone else buying is seeing. Or if I should even consider the N0 911 or going with Continential vs getting 2 year old "new" tires.
Michelin recommends 1) 10 yrs from date of manufacture to change the tyres as a precaution 2). Annual inspection after 5 years of "use" So from their perspective the 23 date code tyres are fine. I have a k1 set of lusso tyres in my garage that i use on my 612 OTO. The rears will not make 15k kms before wearing to the bar, the fronts maybe 25k kms. They are great tyres. Bill
Everything I read says 5-6 years for tires. My dealer recommended swapping out mine (purchased my car used this past summer) that have mix 2017 and 2018. So does my local shop. I planned to change for Spring but I'd prefer a 24+ date, if possible. Otherwise I'll bite the bullet with the 23
I saw this - so Michelin says 10 years - interesting Michelin recommends replacing the Pilot Sport 4S tire after 10 years from the date of manufacture. This recommendation applies to both the main tires and spare tires, even if they appear to be in good condition. Explanation Tire manufacturers like Michelin recommend replacing tires after 10 years because of the potential for a decrease in performance and safety. However, the actual lifespan of a tire depends on many factors, including: Driving habits, Climate, Road conditions, and How well the tires are cared for. Some tire experts say that tires can last 6–10 years if they are stored and cared for properly. They recommend replacing tires at 6–10 years, regardless of how much tread remain
Wouldn't that translate to it being manufactured in the 24th week of 2025, which hasn't happened yet? https://www.tirerack.com/upgrade-garage/how-do-i-determine-the-age-of-my-tires?gclid=Cj0KCQiAz6q-BhCfARIsAOezPxlwYo0A5VPoFbjTCiIySaUdRq8n6Q3S33N25H09g7vTGJkUWoM-AE4aAhv5EALw_wcB&ef_id=Cj0KCQiAz6q-BhCfARIsAOezPxlwYo0A5VPoFbjTCiIySaUdRq8n6Q3S33N25H09g7vTGJkUWoM-AE4aAhv5EALw_wcB:G:s&s_kwcid=AL!3756!3!721501523670!p!!g!!dot%20tire%20codes&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1
