Looks a little concerning for the red cars.

Most probably, everybody is sandbagging; I assume each team has some idea of how faster it could go, but they have no clue how much faster other teams could go.

The final day of testing tends to be when upgrades are introduced, and teams run something closer to their Melbourne race packages.

Doing so allows them to understand the impact an update will have on the car, which can then prove whether they have the right development plans in place for the year ahead or need to address anything. It also has the added bonus of hiding any innovative solutions from competitors until as late as possible.

As one example, there’s a new nose on the Red Bull today, which is connected to the second element on the front wing (see the small gap below the tip of the nose), rather than the very lowest element as was the case with the launch specification.

When doesn’t Max shake his head and look frustrated? :D

Lol, every race he seems upset at the car then he goes and gets pole and or wins. I wouldn’t read too much into it.

Red Bull and others are saying Mclaren are still using the 'mini DRS' rear wing trick, and the flow viz seems to support

Haven't the FIA passed more stricter static loads on front wings and rear wings flex?

Yes saw that. He did say its not worse than last years car. So its improved but the issue is how far others progressed of course.

Max is P1. Sorting things it appears for RedBull.

Verstappen returns to top of timesheet
It's another fresh set of tyres for Max Verstappen, and he makes good use of them by putting the Red Bull back to the top of the timesheet.

A time of 1:29.566 puts him almost a tenth clear of Alex Albon in second.

I'm more interested in the long-run times. Pole 2024 for 1:29.1 from Max. I expect these cars to be around a second quicker than where they were this time last year

Dunno, the Merc looks awfully close to the Mclaren today on long run pace. Really nice times and low deg

Once again, the first four or five races will just be the open testing they used to do pre-season.

Red Bull has admitted that it has not had the pre-season Formula 1 test that it had hoped for, with its new RB21 not responding how it wants.

The team had targeted creating a car for this season with a wider operating window after 2024's mid-season struggles with its peaky RB20, although Max Verstappen was still able to hold off Lando Norris for the title.

But early feedback about its 2025 car from Bahrain testing has not been ideal as Red Bull admits that it needs to find improvements for the start of the season if it is to be fighting right at the front with McLaren.

Reflecting on the final day of running, Red Bull technical director Pierre Wache said: "It was not as smooth a test as we expected and the team expected, but it is better to find some problems here than later down the line and it is why we are here, to understand the car."

I believe the Ferrari will be too tricky to set up due to the double pull rod front end they went with. When set up correctly it will be fast, but my guess is they won’t hit that nail correctly at every track.

Agree.....if you compare Ferrari's front suspension setup to RedBulls and Mclarens front suspension setup, it's not as aggressive(Ferrari) as both Redbull's and Mclarens. You also have a 10 year gap that Ferrari has played with this front suspension setup.

McLaren's evolved the rear placed trackrod from 2024 & gone for a more extreme placement. Now the trackrod passes forward under the lower wishbone. Giving a stronger downwash aero effect towards the floor.

Further to the McLaren suspension. Mercedes W16 has also had a change to theirs. Following MCL's 2024 rear placed trackrod idea. The steering rack is moved low down behind the front suspension, so the trackrod can act as a downwash device to aid flow to the floor.
