Possibly but the stifling of development and innovation is mind numbing.

I don't mind spec series honestly. I just wish their spec supplier would do updates. The chassis apparently is 2012 and aero 2018? 2027 is the next chassis update. The counter argument for them to not do updates is that it is not only expensive but the drivers crash way too often that it makes no sense to destroy more expensive stuff...if they were better it would make more sense. I do like the engines, though...sound pretty good in person.

I know the soft vs primary tires makes for some interesting strategy..but the teams that changed off the softs after less than 1 lap just seems ridiculous.

IMSA is focusing on reducing the number of sets of tires used, and those softs did a pace lap and 1 corner at speed.

TV coverage of Thermal was terrible.
Dunno if that's Fox or local cameras.

But the Fox "info board" on the left seems light on information.

    And large commercial breaks.

Live coverage missed about 20 laps due to "technical difficulties", so we got stock cars for a while.
Have to see if the reruns don't have those laps either.

Agreed. A lot of the time there was no leader board at all. The effort seemed lazy considering things
were nearly faultless at St. Petersburg.

Endless commercials placed right when the action was heating up. Some, like these big-pharma
ads, are like mini infomercials. At least now if we get eczema problems, we know what to do.

Earlish on, the dog wanted out so took the opportunity to go out with him during commercial break.
We were out maybe 10 minutes and when we came back in the Homestead NASCAR race was on.
I thought they'd wrapped that up kind of fast and thought nothing of it until reading this on RACER
    this morning.

    https://racer.com/2025/03/23/failed-circuit-breaker-behind-fox-blackout-at-thermal/

So, there we have it. Imagine, if this had been an NFL game or even NASCAR, it would have
signaled the start of a revolution.

here are the extended highlights. some good battles between Palou and the McLaren boys but otherwise not much to write home about

I really don't like this venue.

Alex Palou is starting his march to the title rather early this year! Did Scott Dixon ever win the first two races in one of his championship seasons?

Caught a 15 or so minute highlight package on FOX Sports that was actually pretty good.

Palou is on another planet. How is he not in the F-1 conversation?

Agreed on the venue. One of my friends who doesn't follow Indy Car as a rule texted
asking "where's all the fans?". This concept of racing at private clubs is setting an awkward
trend, hopefully after this debacle, they'll shelve it.

    INDY CAR IS DYING.

Look at the number of tracks and cities its lost. Vancouver. New York. Texas. Miami. Las Vegas. Ontario. Michigan and Phoenix for heaven's sake!

They have 3 races anyone cares about: Indianapolis 500, Long Beach, and Laguna Seca. The season ENDS in August.

Roger had to step in and buy Long Beach or it would have gone away.

Its chicken and egg. How the hell can you get sponsors if there's no attendance in most of the US?

Quoting The Joker: This town needs an enema!

If they keep going the way they are going its not going to last much longer. There's no marketing or promotion. I don't even know when the races are on anymore. Sorry to say this but its true. It cannot continue on this course and survive.

    RANT OVER.

I just can't get into a series where everyone runs the same chassis, an engine you can't mess with,
a car where you dare not mess with 'aero', basically a mechanic in a garage in Speedway IN or
Santa Ana CA can't try new things.

I had this dream if I won a bzillion dollars in a lottery I'd start a 'spec series', but the only thing 'spec'
would be - the tub, fuel tank/bladder, and anything you do parts-wise has to be available to anyone, and by that I mean
engine/drivetrain. I'd have a heavier weight limit so carbon fiber everything is not needed.

I want to see things invented on the fly like 'the Gurney lip', and so on - think early-mid 70's types of things,
but today you can't even breathe on a car without being penalized.

But I know this would never come to fruition.
