Each Ferrari is a reflection of the technology of its time. If you modify elements of it, you move away from that aspect of things and no matter what the result of this modification, the model will always end up losing its value. This will apply even more when it is a rare model...

Seems to be a running theme here. 'Lost value'. Some here are fixated on monetary value when it comes time to unload, some of us just want to obtain maximum enjoyment. F1/paddle shifted cars offer zero enjoyment for me. I'd take the $ hit (and BTW, the market has in no way indicated that conversions detract from the value aside from the cost of parts and labor)

I do not think a mint OEM CS sells for the same price as a modified “mint” CS. Haven’t seen proof of that in the high $300-$400k range. Maybe I missed a sale somewhere.

I could never fathom modifying my CS that way but to each his own.... If I need to drive a manual I have other cars for that ;-)

I believe the high bid was listed as $330 ... no sale. Then buy it for $385. Now marked sold after auction.

As the owner of a silver / leather car with similar mileage I think that’s an absolute bargain.

Personally if I wanted a manual CS, I'd start with a manual base 360 and modify it to be more like the CS, not the other way around...

It would cost $200k in parts alone(also impossible to find parts) to convert a Modena to CS. It’s much easier to just convert a CS to a manual.

Hence why I said "more like" and not "exact conversion"

You can do exhaust, tune, body kit, bucket seats, and remove sound deadening for like $30k and it would be 90% of the experience without affecting the value of a collectible like the CS.

With just those parts you mention you get to maybe 20% of what CS is. Look I'm not here to argue and I see your point but adding aftermarket kit and exhaust to a Modena doesn’t make it CS. Not even close. You can’t even get the factory seats for $30k, and the car is so much more than that.

Ah yes, I forgot that spending $30k on seats makes the experience instead of just buying $2k Sparcos.

The point is NOT to make it a CS, it will never be a CS (we agree on that much). The point is simply to make it lighter, faster, prettier, sound better, and have a manual without disturbing the value of a rare collectible like the CS by doing a manual conversion.

Hey all, a couple of questions here:

    1. Does anyone on here have a 360 Trev tune on their CS? If so, how is it? I have a friend here in Japan getting one on his car and thinking about doing the same.

    2. What is the best way to sell my Ferrari 360CS? I've got a 26k-mile Argento 360CS with unique options I might be interested in selling. The vehicle is in Japan, but I would like to sell it abroad (Canada, EU or NZ). I've thought about collecting cars, BAT, or Issimi auctions, but not too familiar with these. The other option is to put it on Ebay with a price (list it and forget it).

    Thank you!

I have the Trev tune and it is amazing and customizable. With that said, if you are going to sell the car, I’d just hold off.

Second question, I have no idea what’s the best option.

In my opinion that’s not as good of an option. For example with my CS, yes I have modified it, but it is also fully reversible with 60ish hours of shop time? Also, with all the original parts, minus a few that can just be acquired at time of sale (I’m never selling mine though), stored and sealed up in a huge bin, I don’t see it being a loss. Plus some people will want actually want a well documented and properly converted manual CS.

Also, a CS is a 250k-450k car now. A few reversible mods on it, and it is still a real a CS. Putting money into something worth that much makes more sense. Putting $200k+ into a $60,000-$110,000 car to turn it into a CS, when then it will always still not be a CS does not seem like a good decision. Also then as far as originality goes, it’s way way more stuff to change back if you ever wanted to.

Lastly, not fully converting a manual 360 into a CS, but just making it faster and more CS like, like you mention, is a completely different thing, and yes, way cheaper. A great idea really and an amazing car for the money IMO. With that said, for a few of us, we actually just want almost everything that makes a CS an CS…including those rare seats and rare mirrors, and alcantara interior, and carbon door cards, and tighter speced motor, etc. We just want it in manual form. That can’t be done anymore without a massive amount of money spent on parts, and probably years of looking, which I know I personally never wanted to do.

At least, that’s all my reasoning for taking the path I did.

Is there a reason you don't want to sell locally in Japan? Either consignment at a dealer or CarSensor or Enthuno-Mori? I don't follow BaT too much, but I have noticed cars that are in Japan and need of export don't do as well as I would have guessed (I've bought 2 cars in Japan and imported so I don't mind the "hassle"). I've bid on a car once on CollectingCars and do not plan on it again as I suspected chandelier bidding and also don't like how comments were deleted afterwards including bid history so a lot of info on listings for future use was lost. I've noticed cars there don't bring in that high of values I've seen elsewhere so you probably won't get what you want although iirc there are no seller fees so you could give it a try with little to nothing to lose.

Just another sales point, a stripeless black CS with 38k miles sold for $223k after buyer's premium this weekend at Amelia Island ($199k hammer with 12% buyers premium then on top).

Hmm I guess I didn't do a good job of explaining myself now that two people have argued against a point I wasn't trying to make.

I wasn't advocating for spending $200k on a 360 to make it into a CS. I was saying get a 360 and toss $20-30k at it.
Very different points. A 360 will never be a CS but a manual 360 with a few mods can be nearly as fun, perhaps more with the manual.

Trust me, I understand the value of these special models. I own a scud. If I didn't think they were special, I'd have saved a lot of money and gotten a regular F430.
So yeah, I wasn't at all advocating to fully convert a 360 into a CS. Hope that clarifies.

I see you're in Media close by me. I plan on going to the main line cars and coffee opener, will be bringing my scud, hope to see your CS there!
