Maserati seems to always take the checkered flag in marketing failures. If Italy does manage to hold onto the company they better do a post mortem on how things went so wrong and for gods sake never have anything to do with Chrysler ever again. This is the second time Chrysler has torpedoed them.

They built a fantastic performing new front engine car, but it looks pretty much like as the car it's replacing. That is peak stupid.

To be fair both are gorgeous examples and Porsche does this all the time.

Porsche has Porsche's reputation, and the 911 is a beloved thing with history. They can't sell their Taycan's, and they have models o(GT3, GT2 etc) people are willing to buy other cars they may not want (Taycan, you name it in their line-up) to attempt priority for a GT3. Totally different world to Maserati

I feel Maserati's fix to compete in their desired categories is with pricing that fits the category. Pricing 20% above German competitors, who have reputations and better networks, is a disaster. Going the boutique manufacturer trajectory is no longer an option

    LOL! Well said.

There is a video on YouTube from Jay Emm that he put out when the MC20 was released where he goes on for about 15 minutes about how Maserati completely botched the introduction of the car by not getting it into the hands of himself and other influencers. I though it was a bit self serving when I first watched in, but now as I see the botched Stradale launch I am just left shaking my head again.

unfortunately Maserat has botched the launch of every new vehicle since they began merging operations with Auburn Hills. The Levante, the MC20, the Grecale and what has to be the longest launch in the history of the automotive world, the new GranTurismo. Where they debuted the exterior of the car, but not the interior for about 4 months. Then it turns out to pretty much the same as the Gracale.

As I’ve said before Maserati’s problem is NOT the product, it’s the network.
