I bought this Continental unit. Bluetooth audio and phone. I like that it looks sort of similar to the original Becker unit and is not “blingy”. They also have an option without the CD player, a larger screen and only one knob, but I thought this looked more appropriate.

Yes does the job well. Regular 1din sized unit. I used to use a Bluetooth receiver from Becker Autosound plugged into the OEM Becker unit, but I always had some background interference noise and it only does music, no phone. I really wanted to add Bluetooth phone.

So hard to find a non-flashy single din unit that has bluetooth music functionality. Finally!

Is the Continental head unit a "plug and play" replacement for the Becker?

Almost. The switched power and permanent power pins are reversed so you must de-pin pins 4 and 7 and reverse them in the connector of the car's harness. I also did not have any wire going to pin 6 in my car (even though the radio pinout diagram shows it), so I did not have any backlight illumination of the Continental unit. I spliced a wire into the switched power line and added a pin to pin 6 to the car's connector. If you don't care about the backlighting, all you need to do is reverse pins 4 and 7 which is easy enough to do. Just google "how to de-pin an ISO connector". The only trick on the Ferrari connector is there is a locking pin that needs to be pulled out of the connector before you can remove any pins. There is a pinout diagram on Becker unit and one in the Continental manual.

This looks great Jas Baski. I ha e a Pioneer retro look model now from 2003 and installed a Focal activ subwoofer behind the drivers seat. No Bluetooth but CD. Great sound now after six years of terrible sound! I am looking to add a Bluetooth adapter of some kind. Image Unavailable, Please Login

hey! was looking to install this exact same radio in my 575! how are you liking the continental? how easy was it swapping the pins 4&7? my issue is weird, i have the original becker 4372 and im having a power issue where the radio shuts off randomly when either parked or driving. it only happens when the engine is ON for some reason...... im sure the radio is toast.... wasnt sure if i wanted to send it to Becker radio Shop In the US to have it fixed to still be stuck with the same crappy radio.... do you still have you original radio by any chance?

    Hi Joey,

I've had the radio for some time now and it works great. Bluetooth audio so I can listen to Spotify, and take calls handsfree and it looks period correct in the car, not some crazy disco lights aftermaket headunit. Easy to swap the pins if you have the right tool, or a very small flat screwdriver. Yes I kept the orignal radio incase I want to put it back, but it is a tape player unit with CD changer.

your car is a 550 correct? im assuming the 575 radio harness is the same and the pins need to be swapped as well?

Yes, it's a 550. I don't know if the wiring is the same in the 575, but I suspect it is. If I remember correctly, there is a pinout guide on the radio, and the new radio will come with one as well, you can compare and see if the "always hot" and "hot with the key on" pins are correct or need to be swapped.

Been looking for radio for 550 for few years to replace period Becker unit. Continental units look good but I decided against them as them has only one backlight color. Similar units are done with VDO name with different color.

After lots of searching Blaupunkt seems to be one to get. They have many models to choose from. Some modern units do not look too blingy.
    Stockholm 400 DAB - Blaupunkt

Their three old style models are too old looking for my liking for 550. Based on how they have done three of them it is likely there will be more. Hopefully late nineties model next.
Hamburg SQM 23 DAB - Blaupunkt
Bremen SQR 46 DAB - Blaupunkt
Frankfurt RCM 82 DAB - Blaupunkt

They also have new London 500 model coming. It already six month late and based on their recent Facebook comment still another six months away. Its likely very similar to Porsche classic 1 DIN radio which have been available for few years.
