    Hey Everyone!

Joined this board nearly 18 years ago at age 15. Happy to finally post as an owner :)

Took me a while but I bought a F430 spider a few months ago. The rear window has some black marks on it from rubbing against something, but I can't figure out what or why. I had the convertible top elastic replaced when I bought it.

I can feel the black debris/marking on the window on the side facing inside of the car. It's raised, I can feel it with my fingernails. Something is rubbing off onto the plastic. I'm not sure if it's gotten worse since I purchased it, and therefore after the elastic had been replaced.

It's happening in multiple spots, but mainly one thin long spot where it creases, and one shorter but taller section above that. Also it has some other marks and scratches throughout the plastic window.

Am I missing a part that's supposed to prevent this? Like a felt padding on some internal panel that comes into contact with the window when folded and down.

I ordered some PlastX to clean it up but I'd like to prevent future damage as well.

Your window is folding in the wrong direction. When you lower the top, push the window backwards so it folds correctly.

Really? The crease is supposed to 'point' backwards when folding?

That’s correct. There are two tensioning straps on either side of the window that are suppose to coerce the window to fold in that direction but they do a poor job and folding incorrectly over an extended period of time will train the top to fold wrong naturally.

No problem. Fair warning though, the plastic tub causes some wear when it folds in the other direction albeit not as bad. More of a slight rubbing. It’s just the design of the mechanism. Good to have some Meguiars PlastX or other plastic polish. Should mend it right up.
