I have to quote myself and row back on my statement above. Franny sent me a friendly and thorough explanation via private conversation and it seems, that the whole issue was once again caused by the stupid algorithms of Google / YT and not Franny or Heidi deleted my comment, but a so called artificial intelligent machine, which understood "offer = spam". Annoying. Therefore once more a public sorry. Best from Germany Martin
Misunderstandings happen at times, unfortunately. You're both great members of our community, so I'm glad to hear it was sorted out.
I wonder if these type of universal motors can be used to replaced the old motor on 308 ? Price around 20-50 USD each . Has anyone tried ? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks Martin, received mine yesterday, super quality and would recommend anyone contemplating this job to invest in this tool, anything for an easy life!
In photo side-by-side comparison, they look quite different from what Greg288 posted. For $50 it would be interesting to see the difference firsthand. Wouldn’t get my hopes up however.
It would depend on dimensions and the mounting holes. The things just barely fit in the location where they are.
Sorry I might not be clear with my question , I don’t mean to fix the full module in but just the motor , the other parts can be reused.. the motor looks the same ( but again I am not sure if anyone has tried other window motors than can fit to our car ) rather than spending close to 200 USD for a window regulator motor ( just because it fits ferrari )
I don't believe that particular motor will work as a direct swap. The mounting screws to the spool housing are at different positions. You could probably use the entire assembly, but would have to create some sort of bracket to mount it inside the door. It looks like this company's product does exactly that.
Image Unavailable, Please Login Was searching through old threads about 308 window motors/regulators and stumbled across a post where someone said a 1987 Alfa Milano motor was interchangeable with the 308. Not sure if this is true but I googled the assembly and it’s kind of interesting! Looks like the spool assembly is exposed but that possibly is a good thing? Well, another photo of the complete assembly looked as though the cables were exposed on the roller. Doesn’t look that way on the photos I posted above however.
I am still absolutely convinced, that the original design is more than good enough, if maintained well and therefore in good condition. If the mechanical components can move freely without any binding or decades old grease which turned into glue and if the current can flow undisturbed. An often overlooked item are the switches. Quick way to tell - hook a power probe directly to the leads on the window motor. If it's still slow, it's not the switch, the wiring, nor the relay/fusebox.
That video isn't bad. I do things a little different. Skip the zip tie and just shove a block of foam in the spool. Much easier to remove. My other trick is to put all the windings on one side. Install everything but don't connect to the glass. Then run the window in the up directions until you almost run out of windings. Then run it back for 1 inch. Drop the window one inch and then clamp the window to the wire.
