Sounds like it’s chaos in the corporate leadership. F1 seemed to be getting their act together until Marcheoni unexpectedly died.
Perhaps the answer is simply that Ferrari has gotten too big? Too “corporate”? They are a much larger and different company than they were back in Schumacher’s glory days. Like any other company that goes public and grows exponentially that usually means more bureaucracy and nonsense. It’s hard to forge a path when everything is done by committee and corporate polities come to play. Not to mention us Italians aren’t exactly known for our efficiency and organization
That's because the FIA and whoever else controls F1 will change the rules as soon as one team becomes dominant. To be fair - the 'Golden Age' that you referred to - there really was no other team that put the $$$ into it that Ferrari did at that time, they truly had no competition back then. We've had teams 'dominate' in the past - then the rules changed because of them. Full ground effects = flat bottoms (Lotus) Turbo supercars = change the fuel allowed (BMW), then change the turbo inlet size. (Renault, TAG and Honda) Active suspension = outlaw that (Williams, Lotus) I'm surprised they allowed paddle shifters on the steering wheel... And at around that point I stopped paying any attention to F1 because all I saw were teams working their asses off to win/do well, and the sanctioning bodies doing everything they could to negate that. F1 used to be a great testing ground for stuff to be put into road cars, can anyone tell me of anything developed in F1 in the last 10 years that has made it to a road car?
Nope. It's more info-tainment now-a-days. You have: 1) Park assist 2) Lane change assist and alert 3) Auto stop 4) Distance control 5) Sentry cameras 6) Auto drive 7) Auto windshield wipers 8) Tire pressure sensors 9) Oil change assist 10) Night vision Mostly all auto technology has been to make it safer for the occupant(s).
Powered by Honda a yawn worthy P4, 11,12 and 16. Stroll in the top 10 again, can this be happening? Ferrari gets regulated, double ouch.
I hate to tell you this but McLaren loves Norris. Piastri will have to leave Mac to get anywhere. If Norris didn't have brake problems, the team would have told him to take Piastri.
yes, I wonder why Oscar signed long without a better commitment, I guess his only alternative was going to rapidly failing RB
LOL. Been watching F1 longer than many here have been alive. It's not just F1, it's almost all the racing series. IMSA is probably the only series worth watching.
The CEO himself said to The Wall Street Journal that “Ferrari is not a car company. It is a luxury company that makes cars.” Oh. OK.
hate to be that person but Ferrari‘s 2025 F1 championship season is already over. I just hope for the remainder of the season Hamilton & Leclerc somehow winds up on the podium.
Norris couldn't beat Oscar in a pink fit !!! He was idling along, Norris as usual came up with another excuse
Ferrari is in the same luxury category as Chanel, Rolex, Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Moet &Chandon, Gucci, Hermes, etc ... Not to be confused with the metal-bashers like Ford, Toyota, Hyundai who manufacture transport appliances.
FIA screwed up WRC so badly that nobody bothers to televise it anymore. But then, this is the era of uber and self-driving appliances. Almost nobody appreciates a performance car, anymore. And then there's the almost universal urban gridlock. A kid on a tricycle can outrun a lot of urban traffic.
Well, that’s what they aspire to be. Too bad Ferrari chose not to stay in their lane. But none of that stuff is really exclusive any more, just absurdly expensive. If today’s Ferraris are luxury, then I prefer art…i.e. Enzo era Ferraris. Art is more of a luxury than consumer goods. It takes an effort and some knowledge to appreciate and understand. But I get it. “Drive to Survive” indeed. Market forces and public ownership created a need to change the company’s mission. It’s quite ironic that Enzo built road cars to support the company’s racing program. Today, the racing team exists to advertise and manage the image of the car, er, luxury goods business. Will the luxury business be tarnished by years of racing failures?
I have a feeling that Lewis will not be long for the F1 team. He may stay in the brand. Anything else will be PR
Why didn’t Charles simply have a good typical Southern breakfast consisting of plenty of fried eggs, pancakes with full sugar syrup, hash browns covered, grits, bacon, sausage, and biscuits with plenty of butter and gravy. Then he’d would’ve been OK.
