I recently noticed something a little strange with the car, and I'm not sure what it is. In normal and even hard driving everything is perfectly fine. There are two scenarios though where there is a strange bounciness going on when the car.

    1. If I am flooring the car lets say in 3rd gear, push in the clutch, let off the gas, shift into 4th, and floor it again fast, the car has a very slightly bouncy feeling. Only in that exact situation. If I am already in a gear driving and then floor it, nothing. It just accelerates normal.

    2. If I am driving and let of the gas abruptly without pushing in the clutch, instead of it just lurching me forward and slowing down, there is a slight bounce while lurching forward and slowing down. I really notice this in 2nd gear when driving slow and I'm barely having to give gas. When I let off the car bounces.

Again, very slight and some people might not even notice it, but it's there. Besides that, the car drives perfectly fine and I have been enjoying the heck out of it nearly ever day. This also doesn't seem to be an engine rpm fluctuation issue, but something more mechanical perhaps? I would normally think the engine and transmission mounts, but the transmission mounts (Top and both bottoms) are about 15 months old (3,000 miles on them), and the motor mounts are about 26 months old (5,000 miles on them). I also took a scope into the engine bay to look at one motor mount so far since the car is on the ground, and it looks like it still has plenty of life left in it with a large gap still present in it between the rubber and the plate.

I do drive the car hard, and it has had dyno pulls done with those motor mounts, bounced off redline a ton of times, and lots of rev matching, hard pulls and stops, etc, but could I have really worn them out that fast? I highly doubt it, but if so, I guess change from Challenge Stradale mounts to Challenge mounts?

Nothing major, but I'd like to address it when I do the next oil change at 2,000 miles, so I am here looking for any suggestions. Thanks everyone!

I get the same bounciness in 2nd when going slowly. Like a new driver starting off the line or something. I chalked it up to the nature of the car. I don't have any in higher gear though or when accelerating.

I would think that, but I swear I did not notice any of this until maybe the last 300 miles or so. I could have just not been noticing though.

Maybe check the mounts are still tight and torqued to spec? Easy stuff first. Bringing home fish in a CS, nice! :)

Haha! I'm glad someone noticed the picture. Delivered an extra barracuda we caught on the boat one night to a friend's house. I like to think that's a first in a CS.

Yep, plan on just checking everything when I am under the car. just looking for additional input. Thank you.

Hmm, it kind of reminds me of an issue I had too. It was close to this, and after doing what Mario suggested it went away. I'd mostly notice it as you describe in #2 above. But now that you mention mounts, this was done at the same time as replacing engine mounts, doing the valve cover gaskets and the aforementioned adjustment of the clutch pedal switch to 6mm. So maybe it was the mounts (even though those were supposedly replaced a year before I had to do it again).

I dialed mine in to the exact 6mm so I don't think that's it for me. Although, I guess my mounts could be bad? They didn't look worn on last inspection. I think Mikey did all of his mounts while he was in there though.

Thanks! I did set my clutch sensor to 6mm, but I will double check it now.

I went ahead and ordered 12 quarts of Redline 5w40 (Going to alternate from Motul 300V and redline 5w40 every oil change), and once that gets in, I might go ahead and change the oil a little early so I can get under the car anyways and check all the mounts.

Plus, I just cant see mounts going bad after only 5,000 miles and a little over 2 years on them. If that's the case, then I would switch to Challenge mounts cause that's ridiculous.

What's the goal behind alternating oils?

Me being me and over thinking everything. I like 300V, but it is a "race oil" so it doesn't last as long. It's great stuff though and ester based which I want. Redline shows to be possibly a better street oil that is also ester based though, so I'm going to alternate between the two or maybe eventually stick to only Redline.

Took the car for a 30 mile spin. I actually believe what's happening when I let off the gas is just a normal thing. It's so minor and just me noticing everything. The bounciness when flooring it between gears is something else though. Either a weak mount of some kind, or the clutch rapidly slipping, or maybe something else. Again, it's only at that time, so I could really just ignore it, but that's not me. I did measure my clutch pedal position sensor and it is maybe more like 6.5mm or 7mm, so I am going to dial it down to 5-6mm instead and see if that does anything. All part of the fun. Thanks everyone.

I'd be curious to hear how adjusting the sensor above and below the recommend 6mm affects drivability. When I went to go adjust mine initially, I noticed it was basically bottomed out and I had to adjust it out to 6mm. I'll be honest though, I don't recall there being a difference in drivability either way unless it was something in a scenario that never came up since I didn't have it adjusted down for long.

Maybe is does nothing honestly. Maybe what I am feeling is TC kicking in. Who knows. It's so minor I could almost ignore it, but until someone says "that's normal", then I'm going to try and narrow it down myself. Until then I will also keep driving the piss out of this car. :)
