if the people of america have voted for them to only drive american made sportscars or products at large then it really is what it is, just part of democracy
Ferrari 'scenario planning' to counter potential tariff impact, CEO says https://www.cnbc.com/2025/03/13/ferrari-ceo-says-carmaker-is-ready-with-countermeasures-as-europes-automakers-brace-for-tariffs.html?__source=iosappshare%7Ccom.apple.UIKit.activity.CopyToPasteboard How many who said tariffs will never happen have changed their tune in this thread? Seems more likely than not based on what’s transpired these past few weeks
That's not what you think, for $2500 fee you get pickup at the factory and then you get to 'drive around' in Europe and then return the car to Porsche who then officially ships to USA as they would normally, so, that's pointless as a means to avoid any tariff. And if you pick up from the factory and keep it in Europe you pay 19% VAT, so much for bypassing any tariff...
To do that you would have to take ownership of the car, and you pay 19% VAT in Germany to do that...not going to save you anything !
Well, thousands of cars are illegally shipped every day OUT of the USA, imagine whole new businesses that will pop up to ship IN to avoid tariffs.
I was kinda thinking about going down to the docks with some Benjamins. Wait, this is the public part of FChat. Oh, crap.
Yes, doesn't matter how long you owned it overseas. I just imported a car this week I bought in Japan and stored for two years...still paid the tax and thankfully only 2.5%. I was in panic mode in November after the election knowing tariffs were coming as soon as Jan 20th and when I couldn't get Feb 2025 ships (car is Feb 2000 build) I really started to panic lol. Car is now here...hope the rest of Fchatters end up okay this year.
It sounds like Ferrari is contemplating subsidizing some or all of the tariff for buyers. I think it makes sense for Ferrari to subsidize all of the tariff for buyers' whose cars are already in production and targeted for delivery after the new tariff goes in place. Certainly their margins on the cars can allow for this compromise. A partial or sliding scale subsidy depending on price of car, or full subsidy for cars that are not in production and an opportunity for those buyers to cancel their purchase once they know the plan/new price. Just my 2 cents in case anyone from Ferrari, NA reads these posts
My understanding is that the dealer can't get out of the car and will have to sell it and maybe eat some carrying costs, so it's the dealer blacklisting you, not Ferrari. But you're right, you could switch dealers.
25% tariff on all non-US produced cars confirmed. Are those who voted decline actually going to decline? I imagine there will be some calls going into dealers today and tomorrow.
Just sent a request with options to my dealer. Yes, I would decline. There's no way I'd drop an extra $100K knowing this situation could be immediately reversed

Well my 296 is at the port. Hopefully it is imported already. But yes not paying 600k for a 296 spider and 750k for a purosangue. Good news gents ! Used car prices just went up
Interest rates still high and cars 25% more expensive, unless everyone buying Ferrari's have more money than sense, I don't see how most people are ok with the price hike and follow through with their order.
Chaos. Nothing good will come from this. It will hurt all the US market dealers for all imported cars. Fact.
