  1. And in the SF96/296/12C/Puro with haptics.

True but those are technically not push buttons and from what I have read owners do not like the haptic surfaces. They work OK on the cell phone but not in a car environment. I could of told Ferrari that myself when they were considering that change. Also I believe the 812 does not have sticky button issues either.

  3. I was joking of course.

But to be honest, I don't mind the haptics.

Once you set everything, and live with the car for about a week (which most owners do), the haptics or lack of physical buttons/switches is really a non issue. Remember when the original iPhone replaced the Blackberry and everyone lamented the loss of a physical QWERTY keyboard? Well, here we are, some two decades later, and no one (and I mean literally NO ONE) ever mentions a smartphone lacking physical keyboards.

In my limited time with the 296 (about 2 weeks total), once you're in the car and have everything setup, and live with it for about a day, it's just so much of a red herring.

The constant groaning from the Internet is just lazy criticism of modern UX.

Now, if you are complaining about responsiveness or speed of the UX, there I think you have some serious ground to tread. But haptics? Please, just stop.

I think in that context UX = user experience and UI = user interface.

Any F8's...they do not seem to have the soft touch buttons...my F8 doesn't like my 488 did. So 812's have soft touch buttons?

    The cost would be astronomical

Think of the color possibilities ;-) Sure would look cooler than plastic or the awful soft touch.

I have had many parts reproduced in plastic and the up front cost is thousands for any part. I would bet to do the same in metal would be 3-4X that cost. That guy would never re coup his money because nobody is gonna pay 4X the cost for metal parts versus what refinishing or buying new plastic would cost. There is a guy that makes the defrost vents for a few of the models in metal and the cost is about 3x what the plastic part costs from Ferrari. I would also bet he still has yet to break even. Also, how would you handle the backlighting on a solid non see thru metal part?

I believe Koenigsegg has backlighting on their metal buttons on the center dash. IIRC they use lasers to create tiny holes you can't see well with your eyes, but light will shine through.

The F8 buttons are the same soft touch material as all the way back to the 360/F430. there's just less of them due to the metal ones on the upper dash and the window switches. but the central bridge buttons, steering wheel buttons, AC buttons etc are all the same and susceptible to stickiness over time

Yea, I'm certain Koenigsegg owners are not concered about money and the cost to build stuff like that. Ferrari guys are def not like that. lol
