As a lefty, you’d find any excuse not to vote Liberal. He wasn’t a traffic cop btw - he helped put drug dealers and sex offenders away. Your problem with that is?
He's a copper Dutton has been playing "me too" ever since the election got closer Untrustworthy, he's just wearing a mask until the election is over NONE of his promises will last as long as a fart Do I think Albo is a great PM ? No but it trust him more than Dutton. For this election I'm as left as you can get and if it gets up the nose of you right wing ratnags even better Told PP the other week I would stay alive long enough to upset the remaining 10% of the world
BTW see last night's 4 Corners for my deep distrust of coppers plus my fun interaction with them several years ago ACAB
Just great John, we should have a roll call here for lefties with a Ferrari. Alba Sleazy has been a professional pubic servant since he joined the socialist party in 1989. And in recent times has indoctrinated over 30,000 more pubic servants into the proletariat, costing us Ga Zillions. Mostly welfare departments, not police to fight the crime, not medical staff to look after us. And this is a good thing?? Has the services you and I receive from these departments performed any better?? Are we as taxpayers getting value for money?? Try ringing any of them and get someone to answer the phone or direct you to a website.
Here's another: Phillip Adams, a prominent Australian journalist and media personality, has a well-documented history as a car enthusiast, owning a variety of vehicles, including a Rolls-Royce, an E-type, a Maserati, a Porsche, and a Ferrari, and even an Austin A30. Here's a more detailed look at Phillip Adams' automotive interests: Extensive Collection: Adams has owned a wide range of cars, spanning different brands and models, reflecting his diverse tastes. Rolls-Royce: He famously owned a Rolls-Royce, which he later described as the worst car he ever owned. Other Notable Cars: He also owned an E-type, a Maserati, a Porsche, and a Ferrari. Citroën: He also had an avant-garde Citroën, which he considered his all-time favorite. Practical Choices: While known for his more luxurious cars, Adams also owned a Land Cruiser Sahara, suggesting he had practical needs as well. Autoholic Confessions: Adams has openly admitted to being an "autoholic" and has written about his experiences with cars, including the challenges and costs associated with owning them. Electric Cars: Adams has also discussed the history of electric cars, noting that they are not a new technology. Public Life: Adams' love for cars has been a part of his public persona, with discussions about his vehicles appearing in various media outlets.
The number is 35,000 MG and that doesn't include the large number of contractors employed by NDIS and MyAgedCare. Oh, and the lollipop girls outside every building site. Immigration zealots talk about the shortage of workers, but you could move 20% of public servants into private productive jobs tomorrow and it wouldn't make the slightest difference to public service efficiency. The Liberal party won't talk about this of course - they're afraid of frightening swinging voters.
I’m certainly scared by the guy second from left. That’s quite a weapon he’s packing. He’d go down a treat at Greg’s spa night, I imagine….
The workers we're short of can't be filled by pen pushers... the real problem is that TRADES were dumped by John Howard 25 years ago when Tafe was defunded and 'training' moved to 'private providers' AKA labour hire firms. It's going to take decades to get the numbers of those skilled workers back up. As I've posted elsewhere, registered builders in QLd rose by 1.05% in 5 years... really interested to see how the Olympic junk is going to get built...
Qld Builder Registration has risen, maybe, or have they lowered the standard so that any muppet that couldn't put two lego blocks together qualifies............ right alongside the 3000 Builders going bankrupt in 24, so yes it will be Olympic junk. The only way to learn a trade is by doing 90% of the time and 10% of the time in school learning the theory. A chippy 1st year will cost around $600/ week. Do you think he can generate $1200/week to make it viable for the poor sod that indentured him? IF,,,,,,,, he turns up to work? It has to be worth the boss's time, not only financially, but his valuable time as well. ALL the builders I know of my era, extremely good and what they do, have all had enough, of the endless hoops and possibly litigation they might face because you called some 18 year old a nasty name . The same with Nurses, when you really need someone to look after you, do you want a nurse that knows all the theory and can quote chapter and verse that has never laid hands on a warm body, or a nurse with the same time experience on the ward? A man with a theory is never at the mercy of a man with experience I always say. On a side note this will blow your hair back. Tweet— Twitter API (@user) date
I have a good, young builder in his early 30's that I use here. His work is top quality but his work ethic is second to none. He turns up at 6.45am ready to be on the tools at 7. Half hour for lunch then puts the tools down at 5 ready to be gone at 5.15. His first 3 apprentices just stopped turning up after 6 to 8 weeks - couldn't hack working all day! He has a good one now who has been with him 2 years. Common issue these days, kids don't want to work hard.
Yep, common story. I started a fellow last Thursday, never saw or heard from him again come friday morning! The ghost who walks!
You got the bull by the wrong end - 1.05% growth in 5 years means SHORTAGE! The demand for building in those 5 years way exceeded 1.05% The whole point of the old style apprentice system was: 1. The EMPLOYER was responsible for their training - if it wasn't up to scratch, they were responsible. None of that happens with the labour hire model. 2. Yes apprentices COST the employer in their early years! The idea was that they became loyal employees. None of that happens with the labour hire model. 3. Employers built up TEAMS of reliable staff, who moved up through the ranks from apprentice to junior tradesmen, senior tradesman, foreman etc. None of that happens with the labour hire model. 4. Apprentices learned by working alongside experienced members of a TEAM, not just the employer. None of that happens with the labour hire model. 5. When old builders wanted to retire quite often the company was passed on to, or sold to, the foreman or team that had been working together for years. None of that happens with the labour hire model. During covid when Coolum's 3 leading builders decided to retire, 2 closed altogether (no one to take over), 1 was passed on to a son. There are no reliable new companies to fill the gap. High end new houses are now pushing $10,000m2 and even the very wealthy are baulking at that especially since the time frames are blowing out as well and Builder's are refusing to sign contracts without escalation costs or with liquidated damages. The building industry is on its knees but no one's acknowledging it! Don't get me started on Crisafool's Olympic wet dream... And the problem ISN'T the politicians - it's the bloody stupid people who want the government to pay to care for their kids; give them a house; pay for their health care!
Absolutely true - because mummy and dad have told them their whole life that they are 'special' can have 'anything you want' and 'don't have to do anything you don't want to do'!
I acknowledge and pay my respects to the British and European elders, past and present, who introduced civil society and prosperity to Australia
...after inventing reading, writing and arithmetic, but thank christ they had 'The Dreaming' otherwise we'd have no idea.
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-02-17/tony-maddox-court-decision-heritage-act/104945772 Australian Law at its dumbest. This poor bugger lost his case and has been fined plus costs, because he has upset a mythical rainbow serpent that no one in living memory has even heard of. On his own land ?? WTF.
But it does look as though he gets to keep his bridge, they haven't told him to rip it down I believe.....hypocrites.
