Hi All, I have a question on the Blaupunkt radios. I'm sure I read somewhere that it was the Goslar unit that was fitted as the high end option.

Firstly, is that right? If so, does anyone have a decent photo of one? It looks like different knobs were fitted to it on different manufacturers, so I'd like to see what were fitted to the K. Thanks

When I owned my Monsterati, #1242 I was absolutely not interested in the radio thingie but everyone found it amusing that the Blaupunkt stalk came with a microphone enabling the driver to dictate letters at 120mph. I think it was a Berlin. Here is a photo of my (ex) car years later (Retromobile 2016).

I used the radio exactly ONCE when I was stuck at a railroad crossing for a long time, it did not sound very good...My father had one on his Citroen CX Prestige company car in the 80's IIRC.

PS: I just emailed you another better photo which I could not post, busy day.

Thanks Marc. Just replied to your email. It’s more the radio itself I’d like an image of. Cheers

Greetings all. I notice 0070 listed for sale here:

    https://www.classicdriver.com/en/car/maserati/khamsin/1974/1049344

I’m slightly surprised that so much of the Japanese history is listed. Normally it seems Japanese owners much prefer to remain anonymous. anyway the restoration has left her looking very nice indeed. I know you will approve of the colour change Marc!

    regards.

I gotta say that car probably looks much better than it left the factory. Someone poured a lot of money into that car.

There's a real car by that name, a race car that used to show up at the Monterey historics every year.

He had restored 1114 before that, also gold, he resold that to a nice guy who came to KHAMSIN CINQUANTA with it two years ago.

Then I sold to the restorer and seller of this car, 070, a third K, 294 a rough project out of Belgium which he will also restore.

I have seen 070 in person and it is one of the best; perfect in any detail, not only looking good.

Hi Everyone, I am going to get all three bonnet grills repainted . Could you tell me should they be finished in a gloss or silk finish? Thanks for the help . Gary #432

Hello Gary, difficult to distinguish between your two words but certainly not in mat black. There is some shine to the color on original cars unless they sat under strong sun forever.
typically that is not something that gets photographed much but here are some shots of 1168 coral by me and 411 dark blue by a friend.

You can see that the blue car has faded paint on the grills whereas the coral one has them more glossy with better preserved paint.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question. That gives me a good idea on the finish. Mine are something just a bit less than gloss and yours looks very similar. I can see my way forward now….thanks again . Gary

    Good luck,

Hi Mark it is 190 sold in a Retromobile artcurial auction, 2015 IIRC.

It had more stripes then, not tasteful.

Dr Peron had the car in Neuilly-sur-Seine, my home 1977-86 yet I never saw the car..

I sent the dealer a few text corrections, world premiere in Turin, not Florence, 430 cars, not 435 and Thepenier not Thepenier.

    Thanks Zdenek.

Oh and I just saw the dealer corrected their website text about 190 with the edits I sent, not always the case. Just trying to help and to make sure people read correct information.
I am not involved with that sale.

In other news here a shot of AM120-128 a the Concours Legendes de Nice in the south of France this month.

Hi All, hope your all well. I have a wiring question.

It might be a really bad idea but I’ve decided to make a new wiring loom. My old one is a combination of bodges, melted wires and aged so it made sense at the time to do this.

what I’m struggling with is finding a good cable supplier who has all the colours in the old loom. I’ve found most through Autosparks, RS, and CPC Farnell but can’t find two. The light blue and black, and, bizzarly, the grey and black over 1.5mm. Has anyone done this and found these??

BTW thanks to Achim for his coloured diagrams because I’d be totally lost without them.
