Hi Guys, I noticed that the gear lever doesn't return to the neutral position by itself. When I move it, I feel a slight resistance. I haven't used the car for a long time. Does anyone have any idea where to start troubleshooting? thanks K Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Unless something is bound up, the spring on the side pin should return it to center. If the snap ring holding the cover for the spring pops off, that springiness will be gone. Also there is a plastic box that the cross pin rests in. When those wear out the cross pin can pop out leading to leading to not centering right. If the shift lever bushing goes out (they were plastic on the 360, not sure if that was upgraded for 430) the shifter won't center either. Another thing to potentially do is to disconnect the shifter cable from the gear selector on the transmission. If you no longer have resistance in the shifter, that would mean the issue is with the shift selector on the gearbox or the gearbox itself. There is a spring in the shift selector that can sometimes get seized up. In all of these scenarios besides it being a gearbox issue, it's not an overly expensive issue to rectify.
So It turned out that the grease in the piston which is responsible for the return of the gear lever has dried up. Everything is disassembled, cleaned and greased and works like it left the factory yesterday Image Unavailable, Please Login
