I have a small leak at the rear of the transmission between the rear sealing plate and the body of the transmission. There's a mating section between the shafts and the rear plate that I can;t seem to figure out how to get off the car to apply sealant to. See the pics - I think on the non main shaft there's a c-clip that holds things together, but I cannot for the life of me get it off.

Anyone with experience want to give me a hint?

The bearings stay in the intermediate plate. You pull the plate off of the transmissions shafts with both bearings in place. The puller threads into the bolt holes for the layshaft bearing retaining plate and pushes on the layshaft to remove the intermediate plate. Do you not have the 360 gearbox repair manual?

When I am repairing a 360 transmission, I disassemble the transmission opposite from what the factory repair manual says, since I don't have the factory tools. I leave the mainshaft/gears, layshaft/gears and all of the shiftshafts in place on the intermediate plate and pull them out from the gearbox housing as a unit.

    Super helpful, thank you!

I don’t have the repair manual for the transmission…I really don’t want to pull the transmission from the car just to seal that intermediate plate! If I get that puller seems like I should be able to get the plate off and sealed, sound right?

again, thank you for taking the time to respond, love this place

Yes, if you can duplicate the action of this puller, then you should be able to get the plate off and resealed.
