I know the 360 Spider top operation has been the subject of a lot of technical discussion.

The top on my 2001 360 Spider will not completely retract. I found a service record in the car from the previous owner. It said the operation of the top was checked. Fluid level was correct but it mentioned the mid position solenoid on the pump was not working, so that may be the problem. I have also read that if you move some support part to the rear when lowering the top the top will go ahead and retract. There were photos in some discussions that were said to indicate where that brace was located but the comments were so old that the example pic was no longer available. I have also seen the solenoids for sale online for about $200.
Any advice would be appreciated. I will just add that I love my 360 which has only about 15,000 miles on it.

Not sure what he means by "mid position solenoid". In the middle of the row of control solenoids? Perhaps 22Q?

    Or "central part" solenoid, 24Q?

I see solenoids are for sale on eBay, but I don't know if there are different types. They seem to have different coloured spots on them. The main one appears much larger.

I good scanner may confirm what the issue is.

It could also be an elastics issue. The elastics help the roof fold. There are kits available. Check the commercial forums.
