    Hello all,

Could someone please post closeup photos of their series 1 Corello “flash to pass” lights showing where they’re attached. They were removed from my car (I assume to meet California regulations in the early 80s) and I found a source for rebuilt items.

My research says that they were originally Corello 486 and/or Luxor. I am posting 2 pics of my car showing a bolt/blank hole where they must attach. I find it hard to believe that a 6in square light will fit there which is why I would like to see your photos.
Any other info will be appreciated…
    Thanks!

I thought those welds looked pretty amateurish. I could have done better. Must be the 10mph (?) bumper modification.

Thanks for the link. Next time I am with the car I will look for those air duct holes.

Thats DOT modification stuff and they sure did a number on the chassis. I've undone several on Boxers which were equally injured. The front lights on the series one are Fog lights not flash to pass.

This is not true on my 1981 at any rate. Lights in the grille are just flash to pass.

    Hi!
Are the lamps always "flash-to-pass"? I assumed that they were fog lamps on mine....
Mine don't light up - how would the "flash-to pass" be activated?

    Cheers

Was not legal in Italy but easy to implement. This does require a modification to the harness and is documented on the wiring diagram. On my car the dealer had done an horrendous job with twisted wires...

Do you have a fog light switch on your console for front (not rear) fog lights?

So - my car has no rear fogs fitted to it but it does have the rear fog switch. If the parking lights are on, when you flip that switch the rear fog indicator lights up. My car was originally delivered in Modena to an Italian gent and I have a few pictures of the car over the years, none of which show rear fogs. There is no other 'front fog light' switch that I can see or find.

Normally there is a loose wire next to the radio. This wire comes from the stalk and can be tapped against one of the wire of the black connector on the passenger side of the radio. When properly tapped you do have the flash to pass.

Basically when the pop-up lights are down if you pull the stalk the fog lights will flash. When the pop-ups are up, the stalk pull will trigger high beam.

On my car the fog light switch enables the front fog lights, not the rear ones.

Mine has a single rear fog light from the factory but only one switch that activates my front and rear fog lights at once. Belgium market I was told but the car lived in France and was a Pozzi car. My series 1 fog lights do not flash to pass like a boxer did in 82 to 84 and those only flash to pass, they do not operate as fog lights.

My 1982 S2 has 2 fog lamps in the rear bumper, which are activated by the switch behind the gear lever.
I haven't yet been able to activate the front ones...

Fascinating. Yeah - mine are definitely wired for flash to pass but I don't have any rear fogs fitted.

So - they're altering wiring at the switch? Or is that the relay in the diagram?

On the diagram, these are the toggle switches (not relays). You either connect wire 113 on the output of toggle switch 63 (UK setup), or you tap it to the red wire 114 which is shown on the right (French setup). French setup is nice, I think it's usefull to be able to flash even if the pop-ups headlights are down.

I've further modified my own setup so as to trigger the relay instead of directly feeding the light bulbs through the stalk. That's a simple modification, except that you have to mess with the relay panel.

Mystery solved. I recently removed the center console to upgrade the original Voxson radio to a Blaupunkt Frankfort unit with built in Bluetooth. I found one loose wire near the radio. I could not recall if I accidentally disconnected something and did not label it or it was always loose. Now I know. Many thanks.

I’m late to reply again but yes, the DOT modifications are messy. For now I’m just going to WaxOyl under there and drive it.

My car is originally an Italian market car then imported to California sometime in early 80s. I thought the series 2 had fog lights and series 1 were flash to pass. I figured the DOT mods included removing these flash to pass lights as they were probably illegal. Just for spite, I’d like to install some high powered Hellas in that location and burn the retinas out of left-lane hogs…

What I've concluded on the boxers that were DOT converted fully with the most invasive modifications is the fog lights wouldn't fit so they eliminated them. I've undone a lot of DOT modded boxers and always have to source the correct fog lights. Trying to fit the large square series 1 fogs with a bumper shock would be a challenge so over the shoulder they went.

If your car was a Pozzi car, it would have a plate in the engine bay next to the factory plate stating Ch. Pozzi - Paris.
