13 years? Holy crap, where does the time go. How did the clutch look? Must be 20 years ago that old Sandro in Calgary put that clutch in. At that time he told me it was aftermarket and should last a long, long time. Apparently he was right, (RIP Sandro). About the only concession I make to having the "M" motor in this car is that I rarely use WOT in first gear because I don't want to twist apart the transmission prop shaft. 13 years certainly speaks to the quality of the motor transplant job. During this time its only had annual fluids and rubber. That's better than I can say for the the Escalades I've owned in the same time frame. (I know this is a bit unfair since the TR is one of 3 F-cars that I have so it only sees about 1,000 km per season unless I go to the Okanagan on a wine hunt, so throw in about five tours into B.C.).

PS. I used to post as "53 ford". You'll see that in the transplant thread.

The clutch looked great. I would never have guessed it was that old but no sense changing it.

Indeed... Sandro was a great fellow. I met him a few time and I immediately like him. He was straightforward and no nonsense. We made a bet about a particular Ferrari part and its use... he lost and I came away with some great wine (which was the bet). I am sad that our paths did not cross sooner.

After thinking about it for awhile, I'm guessing that clutch is 19 or 20 years old with at least about 30K km of use. I'm either lucky or I'm doing something right, lol. My cars certainly don't get babied about.

If you know how to drive a manual, you shouldn't have problems. I never needed a clutch in my 60 years of driving manuals.

and thats why owners whine about why TRs dont go up in price.:D
    listening to the internet rhetoric....

each to his own as to when they are comfortable in changing the belts..
point is, we have so much more data at our disposal now, since F issued the car and its policy of changing the belts every time you go for a drive (obviously I am being funny about every time you go out.. lets not be outraged at that).

He mentioned about 1k / year so about 13k kms.

The belts in the one below were about 25 years old.

And check out the comment from 2015 from another guy:
"Hay Craig, I have a 1990 Ferrari Testarossa with 3679.9 miles on it. I never did the timing belt service because of the miles but the age worries me, how worn do u think they are?"
