So, I noticed an unpopular YouTuber posted a short where he shows a brand new timing belt install on a 360. The belt teeth were pale white and the printing on the top (Dayco, etc.) was in blue. Other belts I've seen had a more golden color teeth and yellow printing of the same brand name. I was told that the reason for the golden color was the kevlar material used to strengthen the belt.

With the flood of genuinely-marked Chinese Ferrari parts hitting the market (I've now seen AC compressor knockoffs, clutch solenoids, etc.), I'm wondering if the difference is:

    1. a superseded part from Dayco is now pale white and blue, and the claim about the kevlar is simply untrue;
    2. the pale white and blue is actually Chinese knockoff (he's used the Chinese parts before)
    3. they are both manufactured and the colors just vary.

A simple Google search will show both options in the shopping section.

Any clarity would be helpful on this matter. Thanks!

I further inspected the belt pics on all the genuine Ferrari supplier sites and noted the following:
    1. The yellow belts had the Ferrari logos on them; the blue ones on the video and online did not
    2. The yellow ones showed the "Isoran" registered trademark logo; the blue ones did not
    3. The yellow ones had a faint line or layer mark above the teeth, below the smooth outer edge, the blue did not
    4. The yellow ones were slightly textured on the smooth side; the blue ones were slick rubber

    5. NONE of the genuine suppliers carried the blue belts.

I’ve gotten the “blue Dayco” belts from Eurospares. Literally the same things without the Ferrari logos.

I don't want to contradict DiSomm6 regarding the belts he saw, but...

I faced the same question over 10 years ago. I had ordered new belts for my 550 Maranello from an independent Ferrari parts dealer, and these Dayco belts had a blue print, not the gold (yellow?) like the original Ferrari belts.

However, my belts with the blue lettering were exactly the same in feel and appearance as the original belts, except for the lettering color.

I contacted Dayco about this, and they told me that the Dayco aftermarket belts are exactly the same as the original Ferrari ones. The only difference from the "original" is the blue lettering color.

It's quite possible that the straps you've seen are fakes. The straps should at least look identical to the originals. Besides, my aftermarket straps at the time weren't significantly cheaper than the original.

    These belts (picture) worked perfectly.

OK, that's comforting to know that someone has spoken to the manufacturer about the differences in print. After purchasing a knockoff AC compressor from Ferrari Central Florida a few years back, I question everything. BTW, Ferrari Central Florida immediately ordered a new one overnight, but nobody ever found out how the bad piece got into the supply chain. After installing it, I noticed the main shaft/pully was bent and it had strange stickers on it, otherwise, I wouldn't have even known or even paid attention.

In the pics, however, I still see a slight variation in the rubber. Not at all saying that one is better than the other btw. I just question whether or not they are in fact made at the same facility.
