Right, Elliott. The right bank spark plug cover was refinished when the car was about five years old.
I would say so, Ken. My photos are accurate so far as color rendition. Probably a bit darker than John's covers as my engine bay has never been detailed. It's a race car and doesn't like to be pampered.
Spark plug cover on one side has been re-finished in a “bright red” color most seem to be using. It’s weathered from heat, so it must’ve been in there for a while (after refinishing.) Just for fun I sprayed out some VHT red and then sprayed 1/2 with Rust-olum Colonial red. I'd to Dupli-color Bright red as well but I'm too cheap to buy it. You may have to tilt your computer screen to get the full effect of the difference. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Here is a refinished cam cover with VHT Wrinkle base and top coated with Rosso Barchetta matched with an OEM 27 year old original paint spark plug cover. It’s weather and aged, and a little dirty. Rossi barchetta is very close if not the color it was painted when new. Below are some photos of a brand new factory finish spark plug cover in the package. Is there any reason most people don't just refinish in a wrinkle finish powder coat during a major? I have powder coated valve covers on other cars that look essentially new after 10-15 years. They wipe down really, really easily and the color never comes off. The one downside is that the accents can take forever to sand off, but that is a one-time thing.
ShineKen, it looks like you are also doing your own engine out service. Where in Southern California are you located?
