Mine has the Tubi straight pipes kit 01410461000 (without the standard tips instead of Propella tips). It is almost too loud...I need more time driving it this season to see if I will take the cat-back straight pipes off and fit Tubi or HGTE mufflers. Image Unavailable, Please Login
So I put the Tubi mufflers on the car with the Fabspeed straight pipes. I ran it around for a couple of weeks and decided to pin the flaps open, not to make it louder but to get rid of the transfer from closed flap to open flap. So far I think this is a great improvement. It's louder in the cabin when shifting but once you get to 6 and cruising there is no problem. Plus, as I have mentioned before, there is more connection to the engine sound which I personally like.
I did the exact same thing. I’ve got an HGTE, stock mufflers but added the Fabspeed cat delete, disconnected the vacuum tube to the valve so that it stayed open permanently. Much better, and startup/idle is glorious. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
This year's tune included: New Front Shocks (OEM) New steel braided brake lines New trunk and gas cap buttons treated by StickyNoMore New Reverse and Auto buttons by Sticky RX Solutions - these are very nice! Full Clay and Ceramic Coat (Adams) Full 2 step Leatherique process complete interior Fluids as prescribed for years and mileage Motor mounts checked F1 lines checked I'm done, time to drive!
One more addition: a belt pulley tensioner, which was ordered, was installed today. The car was making a little squeaky noise when it was cold, not any more.
So this year's big preventative item is the oil breather check valve #265721. This valve tends to leak all over the corresponding hoses around it and is the cause of many a 599 fire. Ferrari is apparently aware of the problem and now has an upgraded kit. The theory is that the valve is weak and if the car is overfilled with oil the oil expands and pushes out of the valve. Cam Solenoids checked Caliper pistons checked Clutch life 56% used on 47K miles More sticky buttons replaced with treated buttons F1 transmission fluid changed (every other year) Oil service General engine bay cleaned PA Inspection Ready to Roll!
You are my hero! I have a very long list of stuff to do on my car. I decided to PNO (planned non-operation) the car and do the lagging stuff. I will get busy on it after taxes are done, until then it is on my lift.
I have just done most of the same stuff to my 09. It will crack 10K miles in the next week. I changed the rear shocks with new ones and will have the rears rebuilt to put on the front when those start to leak. I think I will install new engine and trans mounts and brake hoses when it gets too hot here. These were punch list items when I had my car at Ferrari of Naples for an inspection.
It's interesting that so many people need to do the motor mounts, mine continue to be fine. I haven't done the rear shocks yet because they continue to behave.
And once again I started the annual dreaded Leatherique slathering. I have a new dash that I plan on taking care of so that was first today. Windows closed, heat cranked in the garage, I'll take it off tomorrow.
George, you leave it on over night? I'm about to do my annual service, and that's the product I used on the interior. I never left it on over night, But will try that if you have had better results. P.S. Did you also cat delete the 612? Cheers Anthony
This time I left the conditioner (part 1) on for two days with the heat up in the garage and windows closed. I've heard people putting it on the seats and placing the seats in a plastic garbage for weeks! The longer you leave it on the more of it gets into the leather. I think my seats are softer now than when they were new. I do the entire interior in sections, dash, seats, parcel shelf and side pieces. My car is a 599 and yes the cats are off plus tubi mufflers. Good luck!
So the final bit of tune up for this year: Coolant Flush New F1 Fluid New Gear Box Fluid Brake Fluid Flush Oil Change This on top of the new dash wrap with new windshield vents. It was a lot this year, but the car is perfect. All of the fluid changes are according to the manual's schedule.
This sounds amazing, do you not need to deal with white clumps or build up in the crevices at all? I have a 2 part cleaner and conditioner i normally use, but as im quite new to the 599, iv yet to do it. I have Daytona seats in Black with red stripes.
The leatherique is amber, no white clumps. The rejuvenator is the consistency of maple syrup. You put it on and leave it overnight or longer then you take it off with the pristine clean which takes it right off. https://www.detailedimage.com/Ask-a-Pro/full-detail-on-a-ferrari-599-gtb/
