Neither the IBM nor Pantir AI is helping with the strategy!!! At this point why not conduct a crowd source Twitter pole???
I hope Oscar gets better from here I like his laid back approach to winning, no screaming or wild gestures, just a 'thanks guys" is great
Agree on Piastri. What's crazy is you look at the level of polished speaking and maturity and he's only 24.
Ferrari have the fastest pit of the season at 2.02 seconds, with all Bahrain stops well under 3s. Explain how 6.2 seconds is "reaching a Ferrari pit level"
We'll see. Looking good so far. But it's not all that hard to win from the front with the fastest car. Let's see his racecraft when he has to come back from, say, an engine swap penalty. Or has to hold off a rival on fresher tires.
Starting outside his own starting box was simple lack of attention. He's a pro driver. There's no excuse here. Piastri is living in his brain rent free.
Monday engineers! The strategy was perfect, but was ruined by the safety car. They would have charged with soft tyres in the final laps and a 2nd place was possible, but the safety car forced them to pit too early, and they had to use the hards. In hindsight, they could have put a set of softs, but even Russell thought it wouldn´t work. Actually probably Russell only got second because Leclerc and Norris lost too much time and tyre life battling between them. At that moment I though that Leclerc probably should have let Norris pass to concetrate the effort on Russell.
Meh, 9 tenths clear in quali, dreadful first pitstop onto the hards (which didn't work and Yuki went on different tyre strategy), 2nd pitstop was even worse than the first and then the rest got a free stop and he had to drive to the end on old tyres lol. Max lost 11 seconds in pitstops and Yuki 2. Still finished 11 seconds clear, despite that final stint on slower tyre that was older
Piastri last year easily became one of my favourites because of his attitude. Love that he's only getting better. I can also very easily see him getting in Lando's head. On friday Norris was saying the car wasn't anywhere near as good as anyone claimed. Post race Oscar? "I'm not shying away from the fact that we have the best car. I think to say otherwise is not correct" Norris mentally is weak and Max is well and truly in his head already, and now he has Oscar for company. If Norris doesn't bounce back at the next race he'll go off the deep end. Last year with his horrible starts, it got in his head he was going to have a bad start. Oscar as a champion would be fantastic IMO.
You're joking right? Oscar's racecraft has been on display for two years now Miles ahead of Lando's, just look at Monza last year and plenty of others He doesn't fold like a piece of paper like Norris Norris is renting out his head to Oscar for free ,
Oscar is flying at the moment. But Norris understands its a long game. As I said, he seems to have gained more of a championship mentality and patience. I still back Norris, but its hard to say until mid season. If Oscar still shows consistency across different tracks, that'll be the turning point.
Woody has kept his nose really clean so I understand the slap on the wrist. Kimi and Hadjar otoh had several laps exceeding track limits so I don't believe they would have been given the same courtesy
Apparently it was a problem related to FIA´s telemetry, so they threw it under the carpet. Leclerc´s DRS also opened without reason in the middle of a corner. If he had made a Doohan-in-Suzuka this would have been the weekly FIA scandal.
It is different when you are in a legitimate fight for the title. That said, based on what we’ve seen from Piastri, I don’t think that will be much of a problem. He seems to handle pressure and be far more calculating and methodical than Norris, who presents as hasty and emotional.
I have to think after this race that Piastri, Russell, Leclerc, and Hamilton are all living in his head. They all gave him a hard time while he has the best car, and he has to be reflecting on that.
