    Hi Guys:
I just removed the steering lock from my M series Dino, left hand drive, and after inspecting it I see there is a threaded hole on the bottom side of the housing...it appears to be threaded to 6mm. When I removed it there was no screw in the hole and I am wondering what the function of this threaded hole is. Does anyone know what this hole is for? See attached photos. The assembly is a Neiman 68.

Possibly the very 'theft proof' headless bolt?

    Hi Guys:
No, I am not talking about the theft-proof screw hole which is also a 6mm threaded hole. See this additional photo. The hole I am talking about is near the end of the assembly and is oriented at the bottom of the assembly when it is installed in the car. As far as I can tell, my ignition lock assembly works fine without anything screwed into the mystery hole.

That hole was a provision used on USA delivery cars to install a switch for the key buzzer circuit, which was not used on Euro cars.

    Hi Gary:
Wow, it looks like you are correct...I have a USA E-series Dino electrical schematic and I do see those two extra wires going to the ignition switch. My car is a Euro spec M series car that was imported to the USA as a used car in the 1970s...do you think that this ignition switch/steering lock was original to my car and there was just a screw in the hole to plug it? I do remember finding some loose hardware on the floorboard of the car when I disassembled it and bagging/tagging the hardware as unknown and I have it in my stock...I will go look to see if there is a short 6mm screw that might have been in the hole and fell out at some point.
    Regards,
    Henry

If the switch wasn't originally installed, the hole would be open, with out a screw.

    Hi Gary:
Thanks again for the info...I went through my stock of parts and there was not a screw or plug that would have been in the hole. So I can move on with my reassembly of the car. You have my prayers that the earthquake yesterday did not do any damage.
