One of the wheel centercaps on my CS is cracked. Contacted Scuderia and confirmed with them the correct part number is 340066 (although FerrParts lists it as PN: 226245). Ordered one ($26 for the cap, $30 shipping. Absurd) only to find out the color is completely off. Original cap is a pale yellow and the new part is considerably darker. Have these new ones superseded the original caps or did I just get the wrong part? If the former, anyone know of a reliable source to get one of the older style caps?

I was going to suggest maybe the old one has faded with age but some of the details on the horse are different too.

Correct. And all the caps are the same color so it’s not fading
I believe the old part number is 108947

Mine are also cracked and it bothers me.
I have also "heard" newer replacement caps don't match the originals exactly.
I wouldn't be surprised if some fading occurred.
From my "understanding" of the FCA judging rules, it shouldn't make any difference if they are cracked...
    Cavallino Classic, probably does matter.

Concours originality doesn’t concern me since my car is far from original. But I have 3 other perfectly good caps. Seems silly to replace all of them. And I do like the fact that they’re a ‘vintage’ design. If I can find a single correct one, I’d prefer to go that route.

patience and eBay may be the only option. I know I don't know how to distinguish between the new and old.

I have wondered about removing the cracked clear cover and making new ones with resin or some other way.

Very difficult to tell just by looking at them. Part number is key

The old original ones had plastic tabs on the back with a rubber seal. They did have a more light yellow color to them matching the front hood Ferrari emblem and side Scuderia fender shields. Not sure if these older caps are available but definitely anything new will be a darker yellow and not match. I would say look around for older version used ones in good condition.

FB Marketplace to the rescue. Found a set of 4 NOS caps with the gaskets (part number is 108947 for anyone looking for these). Old cracked one and new one.
I only needed one but had to buy the set. Guess it's good to have an extra or two. If anyone is looking for one, I can sell to you for what I paid for them.

At a national FCA event the new caps or damaged old caps are a deduction exactly as it would be at Cavallino. Local and regional FCA events make up their own rules and who knows what they will decide. Every one is different.

The base of the horse's tail is key. The old one has 2 distinct jagged spikes while on the new it's more of a singular blob that's less jagged. The top of the tail has something similar going on.

The color is so different you can tell 100 yards away.

Next to one another, the difference is obvious. Buying one online with no other reference, it’s hard to tell
