Completely disagree. I can’t explain the time I’ve saved in my job and life with ai that I’ve been able to spend elsewhere. Particularly for document prep. It’s amazing. It’s an enhancing tool for people who know how to utilize. Just like autocad was vs drawing tables for engineers and architects. Etc. etc.
Harping on this ai thing a little more bc it is a bit of a hot button issue for me. Made another acquisition this year. Good little company. Great people. Antiquated, as is common in my industry. Didn't know how to use outlook or excel, for example. Everything paper files. Been difficult to bring them up to speed. They're pro's at the industry, which is 80% of the battle (maybe more). But they were missing so much (and still are, but it's improving) by going about their jobs in such an old fashion way. Does the use of computers and estimating programs make us "lazy and unfit"? Is it "degrading to the masses" to require your employees to have an understanding of Teams or Excel or Outlook? Should we scrap our expensive ERP systems and just use T Tables and paper ledgers because it's just "lazy" otherwise? AI will be integrated into business and smart business will get the most out of it just like computers and electronic files in the 2000's. Predictive dispatching using ai. AP/Purchasing processes automated using ai. Proactive analytics using ai. I can't wait. And just like business, the best employees will query the ai systems to get the most out of them. It's just a thought refinement tool. An idiot will get nothing from ai. A professional will be sharpened. Ok, sorry everyone. Diversion over.
All tools are meant to be servants and not masters. This goes for the most powerful tool as well. The thinking mind.
As far as I know, Ferrari makes one engine, exhaust setup for the world. So I would expect a USA 296 to sound the same as an EU 296. It’s interesting about the 2db of headroom in the exhaust volume level. I would expect the regulations are tougher for the VS, as it’s newer, but maybe not, who knows. My own guess is they will somehow make the in cabin sound experience even better than the base car. As a driver, this should matter the most.
it may be a situation where the VS may get some type of an exemption because it’s a limited production vehicle on the exhaust limitations.
Dear Ferrari team, if you are reading this, please consider adding to the 296VS Coupe the vertical glass rear window that can be lowered electrically. For those of us wishing for the spider but getting the coupe, this will be a revolution to the senses. In my 296 GTS which I'm loving, I usually drive with that back window down, and it amplifies the sound and experience so much. In this future of lower and lower db, this can be a great solution to compensate for that excitement loss from GPF and EU regulations. Thanks!
All nice thoughts above, and I don’t know, they could do anything, but I would be very skeptical they will offer either of these things. The one thing I do know is we will find out about the versione speciale soon. Looking forward to discovering how they will change the 296 to be even more sporty.
340M people in the US, it's pretty f'n limited. Ferrari 14,000 cars - even at 20% which I doubt 2800 US dealers est 300 VS - care to do the math on 300 of 340m FYI it's one in 300m to win the lottery.
I think you will find it will be done as the total production run , limited cars that get such dispensations globally are unusually less that 1000 , that is my point.
The VS seems to be dealer selected - outside Challenge owners. We don't know the volume - XX Speciale only smaller displacements that are doing well. My 16M is 1 of 499 - no one cares as it only recently went above msrp. and est. 150 in US.
So I’ve started thinking about my spec for the 296 VS coupe. 1st choice: Azzurro California (Blue TDF twin stripe) with a Carta da Zucchero interior 2nd choice: Alluminio Opaco (Blue TDF twin stripe) with a Carta da Zucchero interior 3rd choice: Argento Nurburgring +stealth PPF wrap (Blue TDF twin stripe) with a Carta da Zucchero interior 4th choice: Rosso Corsa (Bianco Avus stripe) with a Nero/Rosso interior 5th choice: Grigio Titanio +stealth PPF wrap (Giallo Modena stripe) with a Nero/Giallo interior I currently have a 488 Pista in Rosso Corsa / Nero + 812 GTS in Grigio GTS / Terra Bruciata + Purosangue in Blu Corsa / Sabbia (awaiting allocation) What do you guys think? My first two choices are cost prohibitive seeing that they would be $30k options. 3rd choice is most likely although I have concerns wrapping a non-matte car with stealth PPF. Just don’t want to double up with the colors I have but want to pick the right spec for the car. When the reveal happens, I may just go with the launch color anyway (unless it is yellow).
I think this is a great idea too and a missed opportunity for both the SF90 Stradale and the 296 GTB, since they both have a non-fast back design. Agree also on the coupe display for mid-engine cars whereby the spider versions used to hide the beautiful engine from sight. My 812 GTS is an exception in that the front mid-engine is already hidden so the GTS is the logical choice over the Superfast as you get the best of both worlds with the hardtop spider. Also, with the little windo coming down, on the 812, you hear pure exhaust notes rather than a mix of engine noise and exhaust which is prevalent with mid-engine cars with the spider back window open.
Add a datapoint, I've been offered a VS coupe and it doesn't seem that exclusive at least here in China. I requested a spider (seems much rarer) and the dealer said they'll apply for it but can't guarantee it--I suspect it's just a ruse for me to put down the deposit.
We all bought many non exclusive, it's how it works - If you pass don't expect to receive next LE or an early allocation to lesses a loss. Think it is far more important to see the car and performance vs $ value in 2 years when it arrives, then add a likely hold - which is 3 years away.
I think the 296 looks immense in blues, particularly the lighter ones. I got my GTS in Abu Dhabi Blu and it the colour is complemented everywhere I go. I would definitely pay up for Azurro California !
I'm not a blue fan and the Abu Dhabi Blu is off the charts good. And I prefer the 296 in Rosa Corsa red/ blk. Color is so subjective. I ended up with the launch spec for the AF. Very happy.
Got the new email, watched the new video. It says nothing and shows nothing. Usually a teaser, but alas nothing new to report.
Does anyone actually have an allocation in hand? I was offered a coupe on the contingency that I buy a Roma spider even though I already bought a 488 spider. Should I call around to other dealers and see what they say? I don't really want a roma and just want to buy this upfront, but I dont know how this process will really work. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!
The 296 was readily available to first timers. Don't know if things are different now since the order books appear to be closed? You might want to reach out to other dealers in your area.
Hi, To clarify, I was talking about a 296 VS coupe not the regular GTB. I appreciate the insight, and I was planning to call all dealers in my state to see if anyone would sell me a VS coupe if I trade in my 488 spider. I will report back!
if what your dealer told you is true, they are being very nice with you, you should stay with them. Owning just 1 regular base model (or even 2) usually don’t get you on the newest released track edition.
