I'm old dumb and full of.....whatever a vasectomy gets you after a decade or so. I still want a Black Shadow even after seeing Hammond's horrendous torture astride one on the way to Edinburgh in 1949. ;)

Remind me why I would want to pick up chicks? I recall doing that in the past, but can't remember why. ;)

Got 12tkm/7400 miles ridden 2014 Yamaha WR250R about a month ago. Nice modern bike with fully adjustable suspension, USD front, six speed and fuel injection.

First 5 years it was owned by goverment, as a motorcycle police training bike. Second owner road registered it and sold it for profit. Third owner had it for 5 years and added nice list of parts. Safari Tanks 14 liter tank with extra fuel pump, Koso heated grips, hand guards, fold away mirrors, bash plate, small luggage rack with a bag and a tail tidy.

BIke has been serviced every thousand miles so it has good history.
Yahama took one cylinder of R1 and made the engine from there and it has reputation of being long lasting engine.
Oil changes every 5tkm/3k miles and valve check 40tkm/24k miles.

I found Seat Concepts seat from a local bike salvage yard and rear shock is on it's way for service and re shim. Still needs raisers for bar and better, wider pegs.
It is fun with 134kg/295lbs and 30hp, light and nimble. But still capable to keep up on highway speeds.

Got some chores done, so I rewarded myself with a lil blast on the T100.

Used to be a bridge way back there but then a boat hit it and knocked it over....

I grabbed up a spare clutch and stator cover so I can do some cerakote and the bike isn't down while it's curing (i did oven-cure once and became in a lot of trouble so to avoid a lot of shouting and things thrown in the general direction of my face/head, i use air cure now). The stator had a few nicks and light gouges (nothing horrendous just deep enough to not be "surface scratches") which I filled with some JB today, but the spare clutch cover was GTG for a blast and coat.

Burnt bronze should look pretty fantastic against black, and it'll also match a couple pewpews (300 blackout SBR and .308 Mega MATEN) in the safe.

How durable has the finish been doing it this way?

I can't speak to the bike parts (still waiting on gaskets before i do an oil change and install them) but the two burnt bronze ARs I have (one .300 blackout, one .308) have both been beaten around the woods chasing meat for about 12-13 years now (maybe longer actually) and there's a couple minor blemishes on the handguards at this point, but genuinely that's the worst of it. I have a couple AKs that have been done in various blacks and after easily 7-8k rounds per (probably substantially higher tbh) there's a little wear on the receiver rails, ejector, bolt and carrier wear surfaces.....but again that's it. Cerakote is wildly resilient once cured.

ETA: The AKs have been fired with almost exclusively steel-cased ammo too.

Good to know. Durability is its main selling point and baked on finishes usually need that step. Everyone who does Cerakote commercially charges astronomical prices. I have some AR stuff I have wanted to do. Guess I'll give it a go when time permits to play with guns. And its not like I need automotive finish aesthetics. The Mad Max look isnt a bad thing. In old cars we call it patina.
As long as it doesnt come off with Hoppes or Sweets..

My GWOT ARs are just krylon lol. Gets worn, reshoot it in a diff pattern.

Several AKs also wear Molyresin and are a similar story....rails are about the only real wear and they haven't been babied.

That said, the bike goes on the road, gets rock and dirt contact a lot. If there's wear I'm not about to cry. Just tells the story of an guy who rode his bike a lot. ;)
