As it’s still quite warm in Aussieland, we went to our local fishmonger and got this lovely Southern Rock Lobster for dinner. As you can see he was contemplating how best to escape from my sink. Unfortunately he failed miserably and ended up on our BBQ grill with garlic butter. He was served with a side order of Sturgeon caviar, goat cheese and home made marinaded agro dolce ( sweet and sour ) peppers and eggplant and of course tomato salad.. :):) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login .

Howdy, hope y’all been well. We just haven’t cooked anything worth taking a pic of in months. Easter meals were nice tho:

Rack of lamb (sadly a bit overcooked by yours truly) with mashed potatoes and my wife contributed horseradish beets for a Polish element.

Easter brunch was all Polish themed. Deviled eggs with mushrooms, Olivier salad as her father made it, hand-painted Easter eggs, a Bundt cake and a dolce de leche cake just because (which you will see we couldn’t resist trying a piece earlier).

I got some questions about the Dulce de Leche cake. No, that’s not its Polish name, it’s called Mazurek. The cream is called Kajmak in Polish and has its roots in a Turkish dessert.

It’s made by boiling condensed milk for 2 hours in its original unopened can. The resulting cream is spread over a cake that is akin to shortbread. Then the tree branches and flowers are made from liquid coco, raisins and almonds.

It’s as yummy as it is pretty to look at.

First local asparagus. Sunday I’ll make risotto with asparagus, pancetta, and herbs from my pots to watch the Indycar and F1 races. I’ll have enough leftovers to make fried risotto cakes next week.
