    the connolly leather is not so good because it is only coloured superficially and not throughout. when I started to restore one of my 250 GT/E I found leather in nearly the same red as you have now but this has been dyed through.

    orig. vaulmol was surface dyed.
    tan 3218 even had black speckled ash in the dye. looked kinda dirty.

    right, but after some time you see it is not looking so good any more. also it depends on how deep the surface has been dyed.
