Fwiw McLarens are a lot more rate than Ferraris

Ferrari sells something like 13,000 cars a year and McLaren is maybe around 2,000 with Lamborghini at ~10,000

Granted that every McLaren is basically the same.... but then again a SINGLE Ferrari model will out sell ALL McLarens in a given year

Sounds like.we think similar. I look3d at.the MC20.Celio, but just couldn't do it. Had a GT3, amd it was a bit too perfect.... weird thing to say I know. Actually do have Spyder RS on the radar, but my wife thinks they look too much like a Boxster, so not her favorite amd she is a Porsche a girl with three of her own right now.... tell me more about the Spyder RS, and maybe I guess I could c9nsider a Targa GTS, but I almost know it will be some level of let down.

Yeah I can see that. @JAM1 took me for a ride in his 765LT....forever changed me. LOL. Even though I was a passenger when I got back in my 488 it was disappointed. I barely fit, was cramped in the 765 but I am very tall and have other issues getting in and out of all McLarens due to the very high carbon tub sill. What a great performing and looking car though.

Yeah had a 720S for a bit and crazy fast, but the 675LT’s are bullet proof and has the actual P1 engine and Mclaren built the car well. It’s more analog than the other stuff just my view. 720S fast and blah

you will probably need the comfort seats which make getting in and out much easier...... im 6'4" and have no issues. the only place I have problems is in a Lambo.

So everyone has their stories to tell...

Mine goes like this: A few years ago there was a very nice F8 at an exhibition at my Ferrari dealer. It motivated me want to give up my Scuderia for something new. So I drove the F8. It was great. But there were a few bugs on the dashboard. The dealer told me that these would be fixed. Or he had another F8 Spider, which I should test drive. So I test drove that one. Well then, error messages in the dashboard. I was irritated. Why would they let me test drive a car that displays errors? Is that normal today in the world of Ferrari? Well, whatever.

Motivated to buy something new, I decided to drop by my McLaren dealer (I already owned a McLaren at this time).
There it was, a new 720S LME. I immediately fell to my knees and the “I have to have it” feeling manifested itself. I bought it from the showroom in full confidence that it would NOT have any problems, like it is with my first Mac. Long story short, It still is today, no problems with the 720S. What a crazy car, in all respects, I never regret that I did not follow the F8-route.

Now I have two of this brand at home and I can't for the life of me confirm that a McLaren causes more problems than a Ferrari.

Recently I was at the Ferrari dealer again, they are still friends of mine, although I don't own one of their cars at the moment. Because they did always a great job on all my cars! He told me the story of a beautiful 296GTB. It was in the showroom, I saw it, what a sensational car to look at, it had a lot of lightweight components built in, for me it was one of the most beautiful Ferraris I've seen recently. He sold it, the customer took the beauty to Ticino, where the car started to burn and is now being taken back. In addition to a little revenue, my friend now has an unhappy customer. **** happens.

I'm going to a big event at my McLaren dealer tonight. I'm going to ask a few owners how many McLarens have caught fire in the last few years. If anyone is interested I will be happy to give honest feedback.

6’5” 250 and the driving position in my 675LT (roof scoop) is perfect. I did have to have bigger lumbar support inserts made for the P1 seats but they just Velcro in. Amazing car and visceral experience, and no issues during my ownership so far.

I still love driving my 458 but it feels so much more refined after the 675.

I’d suggest picking up a manual (if you don’t already have one) to go with the 458.

Isn't every modern Mclaren (basically every non Mclaren F1) using the same engine in various states of tune ?

Yes, you're right, at McLaren we're talking about the M838T/M840T engine family (V8-tt engines). These engines were/are developed with the help of Ricardo and have its origins in the Nissan VRH engine architecture, which was planned for the IRL IndyCar Series. The “smaller” V6 (Artura) is also a derivative of the same architecture (M630).

The Nissan connection is both wildly overstated as well as hilarious.

Granted it was a race only engine so it’s not like it has a Munro engine in it.

Understandble why both McLaren and Ricardo don’t go out of their way to highlight it but a deep dive into this engine would make for an awesome video.

I have driven them all and still feel that the "passion" I experience in my Ferrari's beats the McClaren, Astin, etc. Just has a different feel to me. All great cars and some more capable but I guess I'm partial....If you just Love the 458...get another one

My 675LT spider is the best car sports car I’ve ever driven. The 720 is also a phenomenal car and more versatile but it doesn’t have the tactile and visceral feel of 675.

So how many miles on the cars and how many of those on the track? Just to give the others an idea of what in your opinion gives one the authority to state that his experience is "the realiest" one.

My 720S sat for 7 months and they didnt solve the mistery. So...? ;)

I am not the one asked, but can share with you that its not a true statement ;)

Having said all that I'd recommend trying 675 (even though I'm not the biggest fan of how you feel the front wheels. Somehow artificial..?), manual 360/430 or... 296 GTS.

I have close to 30,000 miles on my 5 McLarens. Roughly 8000 of the miles are track miles.
I already own a 675 LT Roof Scoop.

Pretty late to the party here and have very little personal experience. But personally I'd go with a McLaren if you already have a 458. It'll give you different things to look forward to when you go between houses. My cousin bought a 675LT brand new and he's had zero issues with it. He also has a 991.2 GT3 that he bought new but he prefers the driving experience in the McLaren by a long shot. I did get the chance to drive a 570S on track once and I fell in love with the car from that point on.

I personally have only owned Porsches and part of the reason I went with Porsche was the idea behind Porsche reliability. unfortunetly I was in for a rude awakening. My first ever Porsche was a 2023 GT4, and that car spent more time in the shop than it did on the road. Ended up being a lemon that Porsche bought back after 7 months. I currently have a Boxster GTS as I wanted a more daily drivable option, but even that has had a few minor issues. I have a friend who's GTS within the first 200 miles randomly went into limp mode on the freeway for no reason. I dont think Porsches are quite as reliable a they used to be, and with how greedy dealerships have been with ADM, it's starting to feel a lot less worth it.

I am still trying to get to a point where I can afford my first Ferrari, while I would love it to be a 458, I dont know if that would be worth it for me in the next 5 years as the car at that point will be almost 20 years old. I would go McLaren as they are so much cheaper, but there is something about that Ferrari fizz you dont get anywhere else. But since you already have a 458. Get a McLaren
