    The pic was a shock!

I'm sure you can make her gorgeous again! Hope the procedure goes smoothly.

And of course....I hope driver is ok. Good sign that the driver was the one who contacted you.

Do you know how it happened / what went wrong?

To better assess the damage for the insurance company I needed the front bumper off, so I enlisted my youngest son and he was eager to work on it too. In addition to the visible bolts up top, there's 5 bolts on the belly plus the forward inner fender panels that need to come out before the bumper will slide off.

RR wheel has a little more toe that spec, the wheel took a direct hit, it now wears the stock TRX wheels so it could move under its own power.

Good to hear nobody was hurt other than perhaps mentally. Let it be a warning to all us vintage car owners- I can’t imagine how it must feel to crash such a fantastic car. On a positive note - The car will soon be on the road again with all that competent assistance you have in your shop

    Best, Peter

OMG, probably black ice. You never know you're in it until it's too late.

    Bring it back Paul!

I'll cut the Larini muffler open to have a peek inside. I'll post pics when I get to that. I'd like to cut a Tubi open.

This thread gives me flash back to the restoration of my BBi front damage. The owner is lucky that the car is in good hands. Do you plan to save the front lid or is it toast?

    Thank you ☺️.

Both lids are toast. Im sure anything is repairable but replacing it makes more financial sense.

More than the damage, it looks like a really well cared for example. It hurts just to look at it.

So great to have your kids help. And yes, I too noticed how clean it looks.

    Hydroplaning......That brings me back.......
My fav Ferrari shop about 30+ years ago had the first injured Boxer I ever saw. This Boxer had the corners hit, and from the same cause: raining with standing water and traveling 'briskly' on the freeway, touched a guardrail and was spun around.

I am always impressing on my kids that you can't beat the laws of physics.

Sounds like she will soon return to her former glory.

The white arrow is pointing at the bend / bow in the frame from the right rear wheel taking an impact and those I-beam control arms transmitting the force.

The right side engine bay panel is also bulged where the upper control arm mounts to the chassis so that too is pushed into towards the engine.

I noticed the right fuel distributor housing was touching the right cam cover because of the new position the chassis tube now are in.

What is the tan leather piece over the engine next to the fuel filler?

Any of the wrinkles seem particularly worrisome? I am thinking sourcing parts like the RR wheel tub / inner fender. She'll be better than ever soon enough. You scheduled-in and pulled that motor quickly!

Indeed, lightning quick given the circumstances and logistics.

I wish the so called Boxer experts over on BaT would see this, as they repeatedly claim that it takes 40 hours to remove a Boxer engine....
