I'm off today to see the A's play the Diamondbacks in pre-season in Vegas. Hard to believe the Cubs and Dodgers will play in Tokyo mid March to kick off the season. Regular season opens March 27th!
And I'm only about two weeks away from my first gin and tonic! It's a Phillies' opening day tradition.
But you still have to hit the ball. I can see a handful of players that use this 'new' bat SLUGGING a bit more, I don't know if it will make a big difference overall. I think 'physically' you will swing the bat differently, since the 'center of gravity' has changed, how you 'swing the mass'.
Including SPENDING. I can't wait - for 3 or 4 major injuries - to relegate the Dodgers to mediocrity... (if that happens) And I think having Ohtani pitch is a mistake, because you can surgically repair an arm only so many times, and then you are done. San Diego spent a crapload on a few players a couple years ago, and ALL of them either got hurt, or got suspended for PED's, and then SD sucked.
In their last two games, the Yankees are certainly living up to their Bronx Bombers nickname! In their 3-game sweep of the Brewers, they hit 15 homers, the most ever for the first 3 games of a season, and scored 36 runs! Judge already has 4 dingers, one of 468 feet, and the fans in the Bronx were already shouting "MVP" after 3 games! I feel a bit sorry for Nestor Cortes, who left the Bronx for Milwaukee and gave up 3 homers on his first 3 pitches of game 2. And the Brewers are supposed to be a fairly decent team. And I saw that the Mets are on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Does the old SI cover jinx still live?
Best selling jersey: Ohtani. It must fry Manny Macho that Tatis Jr is a better selling than him. 6 out of 20 are Dodgers. https://www.mlb.com/news/most-popular-mlb-jerseys-for-2025 Image Unavailable, Please Login
Just secured tickets for the July 27 Sunday afternoon game at Fenway vs. Dodgers. Janet's birthday. Bob, Dodgers coming to Philly this weekend. Whatever winning streak they are on will cease. Just like the NFL, Championships have to go through the City of Brotherly Love.
As I have said a few times already, 'dynasties' lose players to free agency, and Philly is no different. They may win the SB next year, but I won't bet on it, and I definitely won't bet on them for the SB the year after that. Money talks - free agents walk. That's what destroyed Seattle after 2015, when they lost to the Pats. TONS of guys wanted to GET PAID - and they did - by new teams. But I do like watching good games, good teams, while they last. And I will be fairly surprised if KC even makes the playoffs this coming season.
The Braves need to win tonight with Sale pitching. Going down 0-6 would put them in quite an early hole.
@TheMayor The only thing getting torpedoed is the Dodgers after their series this weekend with the Fightin' Phils
O>>>>>>>>>>>>>M>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>G! Dodgers fall behind 5-0 in the 2nd. Battle back all game to tie in the 8th. Ohtani -- on his bobble head night -- swings at the first pitch and wins in a walk off homer. Dodgers 8-0 at the start of the season. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Big series in Philly! I have friends who have 4 season tickets. Not great seats, but thinking of flying up there for Sunday afternoon tilt.
The Dodgers, the Padres, and Giants all had great starts this year. Gonna be interesting when they meet up.
Phils - Dodgers great three games. Today's game was tremendously entertaining baseball.. I did not fly up to see the game today because my friend TOOK HIS WIFE to the game instead of offering the ticket to me!. He woulda drank free all day!
Thank you Mr. Weiss. Phils are a .500 team since middle of last summer. They stink except for starting pitching. Here is the Mets' pitching coach instructing his staff prior to facing the Phils this week: "Listen, guys, under NO CIRCUMSTANCE throw a strike to any these guys in ANY situation; you don't need to."
I invested heavy in Mike Trout rookie cards this winter, so have been watching most of the LAA games. Just saw him hit a HR and tie the league lead at 9 against Twins online. Also saw him last week in person when he came to Texas. I like the Rangers and will go to a few games, but mainly rooting for Trout for selfish greedy reasons. I'm certain Mr. Trout has the same feelings all devout Iggs fans have about Mr. Jones and his team. They have been great competitors and a semi-successful franchise for a long time. We wish them well.
