The 992 GT RS is one of best road cars i have ever driven, it just breaths with the road no matter the surface. Have you driven one?
For what it's worth, the 488 is one of my least favorite looking ferraris while the Pista is one of my favorites. These small changes can really do a lot.
I haven’t! Not doubting the driving capabilities of it either, just that I think the wing and some of the aero bits on it are too aggressive for what most Ferrari clientele are looking for. Ferrari has done really well with aero that’s in the body work. Super sexy while still aggressive. For more aggressive/ actual serious track performance, you have to get a challenge car
Speciale listing as of today at $700 to $800. And Speciale Aperta at $1.3M to $1.5M now. One sold locally for $1.3M 2 months ago. This is before tariffs on new cars.
The Speciale was a subtle upgrade and some people have said the engine sound is actually quieter than the 458 and fussy looking. Regardless- look at today’s pricing. Ferrari knows what they’re doing- follow the money: RACE.
I too was hoping for more dramatics changes but deep down I knew it was not to be. I think I can live with a subtly more aggressive 296. My main design gripe was that the hood and head lights looked too clean for my taste, borderline bland. I am hoping a little venting, extra porting, maybe a mini canard, and a central stripe will bring the design together for me. Here is hoping!
I agree with this assessment whole heartedly. I had 488 Spider and replaced it with a 488 Pista. To my eyes, the Pista has dramatically different front and rear fascias. I would say even the Pista side profile is dramatically more aggressive, with the flared side skirts and larger air intakes. I would be very happy if 296 to 296 VS (Mugello) will have that level of drama.
That is the first road going XX car ever, right? All speculation but I think if the SF90 was doing better, they don’t give it the XX treatment. Historically, it not the way to give the road car the wing. You make a fair point though that it could have been seen as a path to the future.
I can understand where you are coming from about being underwhelmed…the length they went to hide the updates, i can see how folks will further construe that car has quite radical changes. However that would not be in line with how the previous special series have worked like the 458 and 488 special editions. sf90xx is a category above in my opinion. However, if those changes make it look more aggressive like the speciale and also make it more raw and aggressive and more emotional of an experience then mission accomplished. dragtimes measured. 296gtb at 3550lbs. That is stunning for a car with battery. If rhat weight can be cut like the typical 90kgs they have done in the past that would be spectacular. Less weight, more aggressive drive train incl the shifts, higher pitched sound than what we have currently…
How close does this image come to the actual car? https://www.reddit.com/r/Ferrari/comments/1g2zztg/296_vs/?rdt=43967
1000% correct. Was at the "Ring" yesterday and took a ride in a GT3RS Ring Taxi. OMG that 3RS is just insane. Sticks like superglue and is on rails !!!. And it does lap after lap. I WANT ONE !!!!
In just over 24hrs we will all he happy/disappointed I've had my 488 Pista Spider for just over a month now, and I love how it looks especially against a 488 Spider. If it achieves the same incremental improvement over my 296 GTS, I'll still be happy here's hoping!!
Mine arrives next month - adding full Manthey. Bought a modified RSR - old / new. VS no wing, hoping its downforce is legit to achieve that feel.
