You didnt, the issue was bad enough for you remove the shafts in the first place, normal people only do that when there is something seriously wrong..... so when they go south again you will have done it twice...........
Well there you go assuming again. I did not disassemble them because of any problem. As far as the Dino having an entirely unique CV design.....they don't.
The GKN Loebro with Boot, clamped, grease packs for $92 If you go there to turn around, why not just change? https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/91133292301.htm?pn=911-332-923-01-M60&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD_tz50t3s_RIhJE06bKwnkt2TFQW&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI3-ry3577jAMVRy1ECB1d5TNEEAQYBSABEgIhNvD_BwE Yes, not very expensive
I had some correspondence with the ones that really know, at the time I bought my CV's etc. in 2010. "The numbers on the CV joint itself are: 10N08 LBOC 153150199047 Dia.: 108mm H.: 40.22mm Boot no. 2153157500006 Clamp no. 1000007600105 Gasket no. 2153152400009 HT1LF-grease 120g-tube no. 9004328 (or originally specified 2LN-grease 120g-tube no. 9004312)" Hope this is of help, and not a hindrance to some geniuses. Regards, Alberto PS. I will gladly share more info, if you care to PM. Also, the gasket is NOT required.
calm down Tiger. if you read my reply i said ......"i would have" NOT "you should have" You must of had a problem otherwise why swap glad you cleared up the unique design for the Dino....so why state it had a unique design then?
You really aren't getting it. I've done a ton of work to my car for performance and weight reduction. This was weight reduction. Do you want the entire story which has no relevance to this discussion? As for your last question, it was sarcasm.
So now its weight reduction not wear! Not really interested so dont waste your time On the subject of sarcasm...sarcasm is considered to be the least sophisticated or intelligent type of humor. It implies that using sarcasm shows a lack of creativity and intellect, as it often involves mocking or ridiculing someone in a derisive manner. The quote might also imply that sarcasm is a cheap or easy way to try to be funny, lacking the depth and cleverness of other forms of wit or humor. Ultimately, it highlights the belief that there are more enlightened and sophisticated ways to express humor.
The least intelligent type of humor and you are unable to detect it. To clarify since you have such a hard time following. -They were disassembled to replace the solid axle bar with a hollow one. Yes that would be for weight reduction -They were then re-assembled and swapped sides because of the drive side being highly polished and the decel side was not as I previously explained. It's really not that complicated.
You never specified about the drilled shafts. a ton of work....meh, puzzling. Is it a competition car? Usually, rifle barreling axle shafts is for very, very high performance. A 355, unless a race version, well.... it is not the most 'race car' unless a piloti comp. version, perhaps, and then, it would not have required anything, no? It's really not that complicated about 'nice'.
It was and is irrelevant. I was simply stating what I did and was told "It had to have a problem" as if I was lying and then told sarcasm is unintelligent so being nice in return is not warranted. They aren't drilled, they are hollow. Formed from heavy wall tubing. They also happen to be the stock shafts from a 360 modena. Is it a competition car? No, it's a car I drive around. Has a lot of carbon fiber, titanium, headers/exhaust I made, heads I ported. It weighs 2,835lbs and makes 372rwhp. Not sure why that information is needed in order to not be accused of lying about why I switched CV joints from side to side but here we are.
So now you took 360 drive shafts, fitted them on your car and re-used the old CV joints but then noticed some wear, so decided to carry on without ever stopping to think, hey I am going for high performance parts, maybe i need really good set of CV's joints as well. Nah, I'll just stick with the old ones and flip. Your car! As i said at the from the start "I would have fitted new ones" Finally, read the old posts from where you chipped in. Who said you were lying?
I'm sorry this is so hard for you. The outer cv's are vehicle specific and have integrated tone rings. There was a polished side and a non polished side, no pitting or abnormal wear so I should replace them? You make absolutely zero sense. I have no problem spending money on the car but I don't just throw perfectly good parts in the dumpster. After clarifying -multiple- times the reasoning behind swapping sides you stated- "the issue was bad enough for you remove the shafts in the first place, normal people only do that when there is something seriously wrong" "You must of had a problem otherwise why swap" ^ So trying to argue that I'm lying about the reason is in fact saying I was lying. I think you're just upset to realize CV's do not "wear perfectly even". A logical conclusion as they are not loaded evenly.
Not hard for me at all, you make so many contradictory comments and add another layer to each post that i can only assume one thing....... The inference is that the joints were worn and you swapped sides to save money now there is no wear.
There are zero contradictions, just your refusal to comprehend. "Highly polished on one side and not on another" If you think that means replace then you may as well take the entire car and put it in the dumpster. Every car would show the exact same thing on their CV's and zero percent of them need to be replaced. (Edit, I take that back. Not every car. Probably more even CV wear on cars with inboard brakes)
I've changed nothing I've said. Just as you have not changed your dedication to acting willfully ignorant.
C’mon Tony, if you keep pressing for clarifications or details for any unexpected or unrelated comments, let alone pointing out obvious inconsistencies in them, you might get a reply accusing yours being too stupid to comment on by someone not able to understand or stay focused on topic, which in this case I believe is or was intended to be about CV joints in 246 Dinos, not later model Ferraris or German cars, etc.
Why? Nobody's done nobody wrong. And yes, the car in the dumpster might work. This is about Dino, not ANY other car. Go back to the proper sections, including my LADA. I think Henry may be disenchanted by now, to post again. Please excuse the sidelines Henry, from all us Dinoland passionaeries.
No worries my friend, I'm out. I should have followed Rifledrivers lead on this one once people started alluding to Dino CV's being self-aware and somehow knowing they are in a Dino or otherwise.
