The road trip didn't happen, at least not with the 400, as the piston in the LH K-Jetronic unit decided to get stuck... I hope to get it done over the weekend, and am looking forward to driving the car again. Cheers Esben
Is it stuck when there is some pressure, or is it stuck when that car has sat down for a few hours without starting the pumps? I would suspect an excess of control pressure. Control pressure fights against system pressure in order to stabilise the distributor plate. Too much control pressure means plate will be stuck. Usually too much control pressure is due to a clogged warm-up regulator (i.e debris clogging the WUR inlet port).
Hi! I don't know yet - the right bank runs fine, but the left doesn't react to throttle openings. Pumps are both running, so it can only really be that... I'll pull the injectors on Thursday, and measure the quantities. Esben
You won't be able to measure quantities if the distributor disc is stuck. Before jumping to conclusion, you should check pressures. This will let you know what to troubleshoot. Do you have a k-jet pressure gauge? These are quite handy to diagnose our engines. The ones being sold in your home country are of very good quality. The seller also sells copper crush washers, you'd better buy some spares as they are one time use only (but cheap).
Well, it wasn't the K-Jetronic, but rather me being an idiot... I got the ignition sequence of the upper level of the distributor wrong It now runs, but has a slight misfire above 3000rpm - I think I may have damaged the ignition leads when pulling the out of the distributor, so I'll re-crimp the contacts when the tool arrives...
